In this second novel of the Dreamlight trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Amanda Quick, psychic power and passion collide when a legendary curse ignites a dangerous desire.
The Arcane Society was born in turmoil when the friendship of its two founders evolved into a fierce rivalry. Nicholas Winters’s efforts led to the creation of a device of unknown powers called the Burning Lamp. Each generation of male descendants who inherits it is destined to develop multiple talents—and the curse of madness.
Plagued by hallucinations and nightmares, notorious crime lord Griffin Winters is convinced he has been struck with the Winters Curse. But even as he arranges a meeting with the mysterious woman Adelaide Pyne, he has no idea how closely their fates are bound, for she holds the missing lamp in her possession.
But their dangerous psychic experiment makes them the target of forces both inside and outside of the Arcane Society. And though desire strengthens their power, their different lives will keep them apart—if death doesn’t take them together.

"i love this series. while i don't enjoy "paranormal" books, there are some which capture my attention. this series by Jayne Ann Krentz -- writing here as Amanda Quick -- is a good one for light reading. i am engaged in the continuity of the series. Krentz, using the pseudonym of Amanda Quick, goes into the origins of the story, with the ancestors of the characters in the modern parts of the tale -- the modern part written under Jayne Ann Krentz. and finally, the characters in the future are written under the pseudonym Jayne Ann Castle. for light mystery, a bit of the paranormal, and light romance, you cannot go wrong with this series."

" Still not understanding why you'd write a trilogy with the first book taking place in the present, the second in the past & the third in the future. "
— Donna, 2/17/2014" I can't believe it - I missed a book by Amanda Quick!!! Luckily I was able to find a copy and read it. Loved the characters and the fun of the story.... "
— Marti, 1/23/2014" This was a good book for being stuck inside on a gloomy day. Although the Arcane Society give the author the opportunity to spice up her characters with psychical powers, I am getting a bit tired of the dreamlight. There is no way anyone who hadn't read the previous books could have followed this plot, but for those of us who have, it grabbed my attention and kept me turning the pages. "
— Carol, 12/21/2013" exactly the easy going historical romance novel I like to read "
— Barbara, 12/17/2013" For whatever reason, this particular book wasn't among my top picks in this series. Don't know why. "
— Tara, 10/19/2013" She kept up the good work. Interesting idea and amazing artifact. "
— Jeanne, 8/4/2013" Enjoyable read for a second book in a trilogy. The characters are likeable and the plot interesting. It has great secondary characters as well as the appearance of characters from the previous book in the series. "
— Pam, 8/4/2013" I really like this series a lot. Her characters are real, and the paranormal aspect is believable. Usually. This one was very good, but the ending was a bit disappointing. It seemed rushed and convenient. Still, an enjoyable read, and I do look forward to the next one. "
— Lorie, 7/24/2013" I liked the characters. A social reformer and a crime boss. Would make a good movie. "
— Shirl, 6/25/2013" Like the middle book of many trilogies, the plot in this one has to take some time to get from "here" to "there." Never the less, it's an entertaining tale with familiar Arcane characters. "
— Debby, 3/22/2013" Really like the Arcane Society storyline. "
— Joan, 2/26/2013" I thoroughly enjoyed this book and another hit for the arcane society/Dreamlight trilogy, I can't praise this series enough, drama, fun and romance combined. "
— Lisa, 12/12/2012" Another good installment in the Arcane series. This book was set in 19th century England and was written as such, a more formal manner of speaking, very refined, yet an easy read! "
— Dianne, 8/22/2012" I read this out of order with the rest of the series. I am a fan of the Arcane Society. As with all Amanda Quick's books, it is a bit of fluff, but I enjoy fluff immensely. "
— Nikki, 6/12/2012" Another Arcane Society story - set in 1800's. This is the 2nd in the series, but the first (Fired up), is set in present day. The 3rd (& last) in the series (Midnight Crystal) is set in the future. "
— Susan, 5/15/2012" I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I liked how the characters tied together and thought the plot was clever and amusing. I also love how she brings in characters from past books whose futures I wonder about. I like the connection between the Jones and the Winters. "
— Heather, 2/17/2012" Paranormal mystery - dreamprints. Amanda Pyne; Winters; Smith and Jones; Amanda becomes Mrs. Winters and they go to America "
— Nancy, 9/28/2011" series is getting a little monotonous "
— April, 8/6/2011" my second book of amanda quick that i have read and i enjoyed it was excited to see the jones from the last book i read in there to which was the perfect poison might have found another author to read "
— Caliea, 6/26/2011" I did find the book entertaining. The dialogue being turn of the century got on my nerves. Also the bad guys explaining their motives before offing the hero is so Scooby Doo! "
— Connie, 6/26/2011" This is book 2 of 3 of the Dreamlight novels.I'm going to stay up and read it because I know it will be a great as Fired Up.It was as GREAT as Fired Up and now I can't wait to read the third and final book. "
— Marilyn, 6/11/2011" I think I'm getting burned out on Amanda Quick... which is regrettable because she's one of my go-to summer romance authors. Not a bad book at all but just formulaic. "
— Meghan, 6/8/2011" I liked the first book in the trilogy more than this one. I think it's just me personal dislike of historical romance, and the fact that the main characters discussed ever little thing to the nth degree. I don't need everything spelled out for me. "
— Terri, 4/22/2011" I thought it was good, but maybe not as sparkling as earlier historicals like "The Paid Companion". I have such high expectations of Jayne Krentz/Amanda Quick. A good book, a nice romance and development of the series. I'll be re-reading. A comfort read book. "
— Jenny, 4/3/2011" This book didn't grab me the way most of this series has, but it is an enjoyable escape read. The story revolves around two fallen gentry, one a crime lord and one a wild west show act now social reformer, who must use a paranormal artifact to save themselves. "
— Carla, 1/13/2011" I guess this trilogy just isn't connecting with me. This second vol. is basically the same story line as the first! And all the male characters are so alike, it's tedious. Predictable plot and not very well-developed characters. I really liked the other Arcane novels. This trilogy feels rushed. "
— Vanessa, 1/13/2011" a little confusing to keep up with, if you havent read the 1st book in the series. Liked this one, but the sequel sounds unappealing to me ( too sci-fi0. "
