Publisher Description

The Arcane Society was born in turmoil, when the friendship of its two founders evolved into a fierce rivalry. Nicholas Winters’s efforts led to the creation of a device of unknown powers called the Burning Lamp. Each generation, the Winters man who inherits it is destined to develop multiple talents — and the curse of madness. Plagued by hallucinations and nightmares, the notorious crime lord Griffin Winters is convinced he has been struck with the Winters Curse. But even as he arranges a meeting with the mysterious Adelaide Pyne, he has no idea how closely their fates are bound, for she holds the missing lamp in her possession. Their dangerous psychical experiment makes them the target of forces both inside and outside the Arcane Society. And though desire strengthens their power, their different lives will keep them apart — if death doesn’t take them together.

"Another great edition to the Arcane Society... This is the 2nd in the Dreamlight trilogy and if you've read the first there are some similarities that can be expected given the nature that they're both about the Winter's curse... but even so it still held surprises and twists and wonderfully created characters... I have to say that this is about a crime lord and social reformer who's objective is to bring down the crime lords empire in Victorian England... definitely 2 people who go together about as well as oil and water... really i don't think i'll ever get tired of these books... the people and their gifts and how everything comes together... great writing... a wonderful adventure... and as usual the ultimate love..."

" This is my favorite author - I have every book she has everwritten (and published). The Arcane Society books are the best of the best and this one was no exception. As in all of this author's books, as Jayne Ann Krentz, Amanda Quick, or Jayne Castle, there is mystery, adventure, and romance - what's not to love?! If you haven't read this author, you should! "

" I liked the first book in the trilogy more than this one. I think it's just me personal dislike of historical romance, and the fact that the main characters discussed ever little thing to the nth degree. I don't need everything spelled out for me. "

" I guess this trilogy just isn't connecting with me. This second vol. is basically the same story line as the first! And all the male characters are so alike, it's tedious. Predictable plot and not very well-developed characters. I really liked the other Arcane novels. This trilogy feels rushed. "
