He owes it all to his longtime lover, Dray Jones. Dray Jones the rich and famous NBA star. They fell in love in college when AJ was hired to tutor Dray, a freshman on the basketball team. But Dray knew if he wanted to make it to the big time, he must juggle his public image and his private desires. Built on a deep, abiding love, their hidden relationship sustains them both, but when Dray’s teammates begin to ask insinuating questions about AJ, Dray puts their doubts to rest by marrying Judi, a beautiful and ambitious woman. Judi knows nothing about Dray’s “other life.” Or does she? In Basketball Jones, E. Lynn Harris explores the consequences of loving someone who is forced to conform to the rules society demands its public heroes follow. Filled with nonstop twists and turns, it will keep readers riveted from the first page to the last.

"They say dont judge the book by its cover. That is true because when u first look at the cover it looks like its gonna be about a basketball star and him and all the women. I started to read this book and it started to get a little weird. This basketball star Drayton Jones was an undercover gay person. Him and his boyfriend AJ had a sercet relationship that they did not want anybody to know about. While AJ would do everything for dray whilehe was in college and also when he got to the nba. When Drayton had found a female that he had liked then thats when AJ got mad but he couldnt say anthing because there relationship was a sercet. Thats when AJ had to choice if he wantes to still stay with the one he love or did he want to leave. This book was ok but i wish that they would have put more people in the book. The the plot was that good in order to build up on something bigger."

— Kerry, 2/10/2014" BJ is a quick read and fairly entertaining. The storyline is not deep and s pretty predictable, but its a good book for rainy afternoon, some beach time, or to read at the spa. "
— Malika, 2/9/2014" A good storyline. It made me question how many profesional athletes can identify...? "
— Kathy, 2/8/2014" A story of a basketball player and his struggle to keep his gay partner a secret so he can stay in the NBA. Told from the viewpoint of his partner. "

— Michelle, 1/18/2014" Was able to read this book in about 3 days. The main character in the book lived a depressing life. I always wonder when I read Harris' books how closely the characters are based on people he knows. The issues and experiences seem too real to be fiction. "
— Lilli, 1/17/2014" hmmmm...really appreciated the candor and honesty of the main character and peeping the whole "down low" game...but could do without some of the details... "
— Thinkthendoit69, 1/13/2014" This is one of those stories that makes me wish I could grab the lead character by the shirt collar, shake and say "what the hell are you thinking?!" Ah well, what is good fiction if it doesn't make you want to shout at the characters or cringe at the conflict? Good story. "
