" I always love reading Robyn Carr's Virgin River books. Even if the book isn't fantastic (which this one wasn't), I enjoy going back to the town and checking in with my favorites. That being said, considering it was a Virgin River book AND it's a Christmas book, I was disappointed. Patrick and Angie were two of the strangest behaving characters ever. They came across as normal and nice and likable, despite having their respective PTSD issues. However, I don't know how two "normal" people can behave so stupidly. Why Patrick was so determined to not only be there but also MARRY his best friend's widow, I can't figure out. I can understand wanting to take care of her, but to step in and take over his dead friend's life? That's not normal. And Angie didn't like it but she AGREED with him that that's what he needed to do. What?!? She was in love and lust with him from the get go.... what kind of doormat would want to spend a month with a guy, all the while knowing that he was going to leave AND try to have a future with another woman??!?
The whole premise left a lot to be desired. I didn't love either of the main characters and I never really "felt" them falling in love. Not the best in the series by any means. "
