"This could have been (should have been in my opinion) a quicker read, but the author really seemed to want to give a clear picture of the main character's daily grind. I could have done without some of the asides and extra characters that entailed. Having said that, it is a readable story and I found the writing engaging. She fleshed out characters and showed their human qualities well without losing the tension. Even the villain has engaging qualities, which is as it should be."

" The banter & humor were the only things I liked. The narrative was boring & tedious, the plot predictable and there were a lot of detours that distracted from the story's flow. It's the author's first book so I suppose that is to be expected. "

" When looking for novels set in New York City (preparing for our trip there), I discovered this writer--a former sex crimes prosecutor who writes books about the sex crimes unit in NYC. This is the precursor to "Law & Order: SVU" and her first novel. I will read more. "
