"Second in the series and I liked it more than the first. The main mystery of a Dr. who is attacked and murdered in her hospital office almost seemed secondary to me. The real interest to me was the relationships between Assitant DA Alex Cooper and her two lead detectives. They come off smart and hard working. Again lots of info on prosecution of sex crimes. Also greatly appreciated that this one didn't have the adult language and sex the first novel had."

“Stylish...engaging.”
— New York Times Book Review“An authoritative and scary view from one who has battled evil and locked it away, Fairstein just gets better. Get to know her if you dare.”
— Patricia Cornwell“This gritty, harsh book has a strong sense of authenticity.”
— Chicago Tribune“A whopping whodunit…With its taut plot and classy setting, Likely to Die is an uptown act.”
— People" I like the suspence about the book because you never knew who killed the docter. "
— Amber, 2/10/2014" Not as good as her first one, "Final Jeopardy," but the formula still works. Looking forward to working through her entire list. "
— Karen, 1/4/2014" This was my first Linda Fairstein book, but it won't be my last. I really like the characters and found her writing interesting and her dialoggue realistic. I've found a new series! "
— Connie, 12/27/2013" I found this second book I've read by Fairstein to be a very poor attempt at a "real" thriller. The writing lacks that special catch that keeps readers hooked and makes you want to turn to the next page over and over again. Kudos to the author for being such a good prosecutor, but really, if every single book is going to start with a murder or some kind of crime involving a rape, then there's no point in reading the rest of her books, they will all be quite similarly average "
— Ricardo, 11/17/2013" #2 in her series of light murder mystery novels. This was better than the first one (as you would expect) and was good enough to entice me to get #3 for my next vacation/airplane/trip read. "
— John, 11/11/2013" The author is a sex crimes reporter, so she certainly has the background knowledge to write this book. The book has interesting doctor and police jargon that I enjoyed reading. But the ending is abrupt and disappointing. "
— Kelly, 11/5/2013" I am definitely hooked! I love the characters and plot in her books. Anxious for the third book. "
— Teresa, 9/25/2013" This is another great legal thriller from Linda Fairstein, the second one in the series. Great action, nice drama and a good steady pace. "
— Kristen, 9/23/2013" One of those mysteries/murders I wouldn't have read if I had another good book waiting. "
— Judy, 8/28/2013" BOT, Very good series, legal thriller. "
— Vickie, 7/17/2013" Love this author and series! Can't wait to read the rest of the books in the Alex Cooper series. I'm reading them out of order, though, which horrifies Jamie. She would NEVER do that! "
— Becky, 6/23/2013" Really wanted to give this 3 1/2 stars--not quite a 4 but better than a 3! "
— Grandma, 6/6/2013" so far, just ok. a little slow, but not so bad that I can't finish it by all means! "
— Jasmine, 5/11/2013" Not as good as the first 2 books in the series but will carry on reading and see if they get better. "
— Pauline, 4/10/2013" I enjoyed the book. I like Alex and her work. I think Mike and Mercer are great as well. I hope Alex ditch Drew though. Don't like him very much. The plot was great and I loved the gory stuff, although there was not a lot of it. Looking forward to reading the next book. "
— Zafia, 1/25/2013" suspense. enjoying the characters. "
— Michele, 1/4/2013" Mike, Mercer and the amazing Alex-love this series. This one has the unusual twist of Mike and Alex in England. Not my favorite of the series but enjoyable. "
— JoDee, 10/24/2012" A solid mystery notable for its realistic depiction of prosecutors and law enforcement working closely rather than everyone cowboying it up on their own. "
— Jessica, 10/15/2012" Second in series "
— Janice, 9/20/2012" These are pretty good mysteries... not classical literature by any chance, but well-written books if you want to read a good story and not have to think too much... "
— Liza, 9/9/2012" #2 Alex Cooper -- murder and suspense in the NYC hospital world "
— Catherine, 7/7/2012" Great "airport trip" books. I read it by listening to it on tape as I commuted into DC. PERFECT. The characters have their quirks, the story has a good plot. "
— Martha, 6/2/2012" Good; Continuing character: Alexandra Cooper; DA and the police try to solve the murder in a hospital of a prominent doctor. "
— Joe, 12/31/2011" Not very likely to buy another one from this author "
— Jose, 12/5/2011" Meh, not my thing...It was like "Sex and the City" meets Patricia Cornwell but without decent writing. Gave the rest of the series a pass. "
— Stephanie, 7/15/2011" I am definitely hooked! I love the characters and plot in her books. Anxious for the third book. "
— Teresa, 3/7/2011" This is the third book I have read. All three end in the same manner. Alex ends up alone with the killer alone and Mike and Mercer come to the rescue. "
— Joseph, 3/2/2011" I really like this writer. Stories are interesting and they keep you guessing. I also like that her books are set in NYC too. "
— Liz, 2/11/2011" it was good...not great just good. "
— Denise, 1/10/2011" Love this author and series! Can't wait to read the rest of the books in the Alex Cooper series. I'm reading them out of order, though, which horrifies Jamie. She would NEVER do that! "
— Becky, 11/11/2010" Alexandra Cooper is a very intreguing character and has good friends watching her back, which is necessary in her line of work. Not as guesome as a Tammy Hoag or gory as Patricia Caldwell, but interesting in the lines of sex crimes. "
— Kathy, 9/23/2009" One of those mysteries/murders I wouldn't have read if I had another good book waiting. "
— Judy, 9/3/2009" Good; Continuing character: Alexandra Cooper; DA and the police try to solve the murder in a hospital of a prominent doctor. <br/> "
— Joe, 8/28/2009" Alexandra Cooper, ADA in the Sex Crimes Unit of the NYDP and her cohorts Mike Chapman and Mercer are investigating the murder of neurosurgeon. There are lots of twists and turns to the plot which fast paced and may make you think twice about going to the hospital!! "
— Vionna, 7/19/2009" This is the second Linda Fairstein book I've read now. Her stories are good, fast paced, never boring. On to the next book Cold Hit. "
— Carol, 7/16/2009" Farstein's books include a lot of interesting detail based on the author's experience heading he sex crimes unit of the Manhattan D.A. office. I do wish that Alexandra Cooper could solve some of the cases without getting herself into a situation where she is attacked by he killer. "
— Lila, 6/20/2009" Another good whodunit...........I love the way she keeps the reader guessing. "
— Kathy, 6/16/2009Linda Fairstein is an author of crime fiction.
