From the New York Times bestselling author of Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret and the upcoming adult novel In the Unlikely Event comes a tale of family, friendship, and pre-teen life like only JUDY BLUME can deliver. The companion to Just As Long As We’re Together.
CAN YOU BE too perfect?
From the outside, Rachel looks like the perfect daughter in the perfect family. She’s a straight-A student, a gifted musician, and a good friend. But Rachel feels as if it’s all falling apart. Her brother, Charles, was just kicked out of boarding school and is now at home, wreaking havoc. Her sister, Jessica, has problems of her own, which Rachel thinks it’s her job to help solve. And Rachel herself is considering adding drama club, community service, and class president to her already crowded roster of activities. Rachel’s best friends, Stephanie and Alison, urge Rachel to lighten up and enjoy the end of seventh grade. Easy for them to say. Not so easy for Rachel. Not even when Jeremy Dragon, the coolest boy in ninth grade, notices her. Is it possible that perfection isn’t the key to an exciting life?

"You might think this book is humorous. It's really not. It's kind of sad. Rachel thinks she has no control over her life. In the book she mentioned "I love music, it takes me some place else. I can correct myself in music, with music im in control.""
— Mahin (5 out of 5 stars)
" I didn't finish the first book "
— Janice, 2/16/2014" ha, ha this was the best book i had read tht year.. its so cooll... I especially loved her brother.. i think is name was Charles.. makes the book fun. hes such a trouble-marker.. like me sometimes when i provoke my mother spitefully "
— Jacy-ann, 2/5/2014" I love a Judy Blume novel. This one is somewhat shorter and has a companion novel that I will read if I can get my hands on it. I like that in this novel, Rachel subtly develops. We don't get a very definite ending, or answers to all of our questions. This is a great novel for middle schoolers especially. "
— Laura, 1/17/2014" This book is the sequel to Just As Long As We're Together. Not nearly as good. The first book was about Steph, and this one is about Rachel. I found Rachel's life much more boring than Steph's. I love that there is a sequel, but it should of been about Alison. She has such an event full life! This book just didn't hit me. "
— Emma, 1/12/2014" I wasn't quite sure what to make of this book. I mean, I liked it. I liked the honesty and awkwardness and everything, and I liked Judy Blume. But still, I sort of didn't... get it. I don't know. But anyway, it's a really good book. Read it. "
— Lauren, 1/11/2014" The sequel to my all time favorite Judy Blume book Just as Long as Were Together . Jeremy Dragon returns and Rachel says the F*word. Yep, I was totally shocked and could not believe it. I think it made me love it more. :) "
— Stephanie, 1/8/2014" Sequel to Just as Long as We're Together. This book is told by a different one of the friends' perspective about managing problems and tasks. "
— Charity, 1/3/2014" This is a sequel to a book I loved when I was young. I'm glad I finally read it. I also like that the main character has TMJ like me. I really found a lot to identify with Rachel, which partly worries me. "
— Anne, 12/26/2013" I absolutly LOVED this book ! I would reccomend it to anybody ! It kept my mind and eyeas going ! "
— Mariah, 12/22/2013" I felt there was no close in Rachel's life at the end of the book. So maybe, I should really read the next one?? "
— Jienna, 11/23/2013" Would have loved to read this book as a teen, never mind, I enjoyed it even now!! "
— Dhanashri, 11/8/2013" Follow up to "Just as long as we're together" "
— Dawn, 10/14/2013" I loved this book as a kid. I thought it was much better than the first one, because I liked Rachel better than Stephanie. I always wished Judy Blume would have written a book from Allison's point of view. "
— Alex, 4/5/2013" The sequel to As Long As We're Together. "
— Cam, 10/10/2012" Here's To You, Rachel Robinson is a cute book for preteen girls trying to figure themselves out. It really captures usual teenage girl problems; like boys, annoying siblings, and friend drama. I would definitely recommend this for a SUPER QUICK, light read. "
— Penny, 7/13/2012" This book, even years later, is so vastly relatable to me. Rachel and I are like the same person, in so many ways. Her family issues and her vast expectations on herself... Fantastic read. "
— Robin, 6/14/2012" it was a fantabulous book!!!!!!!! "
— Tess, 4/1/2012" not that great but I still dig judy blume "
— Peter, 3/6/2012" I really liked this book, it gave a closser look into Rachel's hard life. I felt really bad for her because of the third weel thing with Allison and Stephanie. "
— Estefania, 12/31/2011" This book is much more intence than the first one (Just as long as we're togethor.) I love it. :]] "
— Breanne, 12/27/2011" This book was sooo good!! "
— Salem, 12/18/2011" Good MG book. Probably my third favorite Judy Blume after Blubber and Just As Long As We're Together. Not up there with Jerry Spinelli, but still awesome. "
— Cory, 9/13/2011" I'm so sorry this didn't come out earlier. By 1993 I was in college and learning to live with my Rachelesque stress. It would have been so normalizing to read this. "
— Vivian, 6/23/2011" Interesting point of view companion novel to go with "Just as Long as We're Together". Love getting the other girls perspective in how things fall apart in a 7th grade girl friendship. "
— Kristi, 6/20/2011" It's about a girl named Rachel and her brother ruins her life after he gets kicked out of boardinig school. You should read it. "
— Chelsea, 6/5/2011" The follow-up book to Just As Long As We're Together, told from Rachel's perspective instead of Stephanie's. Enjoyable, but not as good. A quick read; I read it in a couple of hours. "
— Brandi, 5/1/2011" I felt there was no close in Rachel's life at the end of the book. So maybe, I should really read the next one?? "
— Jienna, 2/15/2011" not that great but I still dig judy blume "
— Peter, 11/26/2010" i really loved this book because it explains what jr. high school girls go through "
— D'asia, 11/9/2010" Sequel to Just As Long As We're Together. "
