" Judy Blume doesn't write "literature". But she does write with a certain pleasant spareness - like she's explaining something to a child, very patiently. I like the effect. Wish I'd read this when I was younger though! (Mostly because I wish I'd had this story to reflect back on during middle school, not because of the writing style.) "

" Woo! Way too much adult content for my 8 year old. We're not ready to have that talk yet. That aside, I often feel that towards the end of her books, Blume just stops writing, leaving the reader unsatisfied but not necessarily wanting more either. It's just sort of, meh. "
