Kayleigh Towne’s music career is just reaching new heights with her huge hit single “Your Shadow”—but increased fame is also bringing unwanted attention. An innocent exchange with one of her fans, signed with an “XO,” leads Kayleigh into the dangerous and terrifying realm of obsession.

Edwin Sharp thinks Kayleigh’s songs contain messages that speak directly to him. Despite her clear rejection and threats from lawyers and law enforcers, he remains convinced that “Your Shadow” was written just for him, and he announces he’s coming for Kayleigh. Then a potentially fatal accident occurs at the concert hall where Kayleigh is rehearsing for a triumphant hometown performance, and she is convinced that someone—maybe Edwin—was there watching her from the darkness.

Speeding along over just three short days, this nail-biting thriller is filled with terrifying twists that will hold readers in rapt suspense until the final shocking revelation.

" Excellent twists! But I knew one of the culprits early on. "

" I am about halfway through on this one. Deaver has a similar ebb and flow in all of his books. You just know that the original bad guy is not the one who is causing all the havoc in the end. I am enjoying this one. It was very typical Deaver. A good fast read but once it is over it is pretty unrememberable. :) "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Cathy | 1/16/2014

" Just not the best of his work. I could put this one down fairly often. "

" Not bad but way too many back and forth turns. After a while I really didn't care who the culprit was!! "

" typical deaver -twists galore.but something different. who knew he was also a song writer? man of many talents. good read "

" Kathryn Dance is helping her friend who happens to be a famous country singer find her stalker. Lincoln Rhymes and Amelia Sachs help out. Okay story but enjoy the characters. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Lindasueanne | 12/28/2013

" pretty good, I think he needs to start some new series now, a little too predictable "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Stephanie Wnetrzak | 12/18/2013

" Nice addition to the Kathryn Dance line. Plot kept me guessing quite a bit. And who knew Jeffrey Deaver was a songwriter? Made me hope for a new Lincoln Rhyme book too...I've been missing Jeffrey's writing more than I knew! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Edie | 9/5/2013

" Gotta love a good stalking book (but only once in a while!). "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 False Millennium | 6/15/2013

" A decent enough light read. What was interesting, to me, is that there are several other books in existence with the title "XO." "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Lorie | 6/2/2013

" I enjoyed this one, and it was nice to have a visit from Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs. Good twists at the end when you thought it was all worked out already. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Vanessa Gross brooks | 4/30/2013

" Was eagerly anticipating this book, as I love Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme and Kathryn Dance series. Enjoyed it, but didn't find it quite as heart stopping as many of his other books. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Hapzydeco | 2/15/2013

" A sleuthing marathon. A puzzle mystery. Totally agree with Jeff Ayers' (Associated Press) review that "XO" delivers more twists than a bag of pretzels. Kathryn Dance's toughest case, and Deaver's best book yet. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Betty Karl | 2/4/2013

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jim | 1/9/2013

" Deaver wrote a fast-paced tale with lots of switchbacks and ess curves. Great mystery that keeps one hanging until the last word. "

" Not my favorite Jeffery Deaver - I love most of his books, but this one just didn't grab me. Read about a quarter of it, then jumped to the last couple chapters. "
