"I started to re read this again today having originally read it about ten years ago. I have since read most if not all of Deavers novels. Plot twists and surprises are a trade mark of his books so much so that they have almost become predictable. Still enjoy them and as this was the one that originall got me hooked I decided to re read and see how much I remembered and if I still think it is as good as I thought ten years ago."

— Neeve, 1/24/2014" Pretty good. A quick read, not too complicated. "
— Mariah, 12/18/2013" Now that's what a thriller should be! Non-stop from beginning to end, every page filled with suspense. There's a reason Jeffery Deaver is my favorite mystery writer. "
— Gunner, 12/14/2013" I really enjoyed the first half, and then it got weird. I wanted to give it two stars at least but I couldn't bring myself to after the second half. "
— Karla, 12/13/2013" The one i read after The Bone Collector. By the end of it i was already starting to go off Jeffery Deaver "
— Susie, 11/5/2013" Written by the author of The Bone Collector, this is an equally suspenseful page-turner. Just when you think the story's over, SURPRISE...more plot turns ahead. Not just anything gets me up and reading at 4:30 am on a holiday! Good, good book. I'll be looking for more Deaver to add to my collection. "
— Vickie, 9/21/2013" Excellent mystery - couldn't put it down! "
— Liz, 9/20/2013" I wasn't wild about this book! I've liked all of Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme books but this one had WAY TO MANY F words in it for my taste! BUT I couldn't just not finish it! "
— Janet, 9/1/2013" Predictable and same gore technique. May or may not read anymore of his books. "
— Jackie, 8/8/2013" Good book, many twists and turns but none are confusing. Everything ties up nicely. Good author, I will read him again. Peace ....out "
— Shoe, 6/26/2013" I put a very long hold reading this book because it gets pretty boring. The negotiation took lots of time that it get me bored. I also find the scene where melanie is in her fantasy with arthur is blah. Skipped them most. Though the ending kind of unpredictable which is nice. "
— aeniez, 5/25/2013" Wow! This was a thrilling, rollercoaster, high-paced, keep you on your toes thriller! Just when I thought it was calming down, another unpredictable twist takes place. Wonderful! "
— Maha, 11/21/2012" bagus.... endingnya tapi aneh... twist tapi berakhir dengan cepat.... "

— Jackie, 5/4/2011" Wonderful. I was so fortunate to have picked this up as my first Deaver book. My stomach was in knots and one night while reading it I was actually scared to shut the lights out and go to bed! "
— Kristal, 3/8/2011" I enjoyed this book for the most part. There were a few times it began to loss my interest, but redeemed itself very quickly. I love the ending, was not what i had predicted it to be. "
— Carol, 1/31/2011" A Maiden's Grave
how deep the ground

"
— Birdlashes, 1/29/2011" It sounded like a book that I would enjoy but turned out to be one that I didn't like. It was a little on the slow side -where the plot didn't feel like it progressing. The jacket of the book sounded more interesting than the acutal book. "
