"This book is set during the depression. A 22 year-old Alice Ripley still lives with her parents and works at the public library. Her dad is a pastor and they live in Illinois. Alice's world falls apart when she loses her job and the same day her boyfriend breaks up with her. Alice ends up traveling with her aunt and uncle to a remote town in Kentucky, to drop off five boxes of donated books. Her relatives drop her off, promising to return in two weeks. The life Alice finds is very different that what she left in Illinois. Though I often thought, "Grow up, young lady", the adventures Alice was part of and the look at rural Kentucky life during the depression kept me enjoying this book."

“Austin does an amazing job of touching the reader with each character she creates. Alice plunges herself into each book she reads, in order to find the life she is missing. The lessons that she learns and the love she finds make this a page-turner.”

— Tiffany, 3/10/2018" Great book! As a lover of books and reading, I found the whole librarian aspect very interesting. But I was also so ecstatic to find the postpartum depression story line in the book! As someone who has been through this hell myself, it makes me so happy to find that more and more people are talking about it, writing about it, incorporating it into TV shows, etc. The more people talk about it, the less shame accompanies it. Women will hopefully receive treatment much sooner and people who have not experienced it will be less judgemental and show compassion. So, thank you, Lynn Austin! Thank you for giving us a voice. "
