Kitty Sugarman is a lot tougher than her name implies. Still, she's content with how her small-town life keeps her removed from all the changes happening in the world—like the Unveiling of the Others. That is, until a near-tragedy strikes and Kitty discovers she has abilities...thanks to a father she never knew was alive. He also happens to be a were-lion and the leader of one of the most powerful prides out west.
When Kitty heads to Vegas to find out more about her father, it's his sexy, seductive second-in-command or baas of the pride, Marcus Stewart, who commands her attention. Now that she has tempted Marcus's hunger for a mate, Kitty finds herself stuck in a vicious struggle for her father's fortune, while deadly unrest stirs within the pride. Kitty's rivals won't rest until she's gone for good, but Marcus will fight until his last breath to save her...even if it means going against the pride.

"Very enjoyable story of a young woman, Kitty, who learns she's a shifter, has a father who is the Felix of a pride of shifter lions who is dying and several hostile, possibly homicidal relatives who don't want her around. She also meets her father's second in command, Max, who she finds overbearing but also reassuring and incredibly attractive. The chemistry between Kitty and Max is great as Kitty learns to master her ability to shift and figure out how to fit into the shifter world, if she even wants to. The ending was my least favorite part of the story where too much happened all at once and I didn't find the characters' behaviors entirely congruent to the situation. But despite that stumble at the end, I found the book fun to read with a good plot and interesting, likeable main characters."
— Willow (4 out of 5 stars)
There's no shortage of sexy sizzle.
— Romantic Times" This is a brill book but so is the the entire collection. They are full of drama and romance and quite a few sex scenes, but they just make me want to read them again and again. I love how all the characters know each other and how you get to hear about the other characters in the other books and let's you know how there story is still continuing a little bit. This is a must read book and so or the rest xx "
— Michelle, 2/14/2014" Narrated by Kate Reading - narration 5*s "
— Brenda, 2/12/2014" I was in the mood for something short, off beat, and furry. This author gives a satisfying paranormal romance with a contemporary twist. Thoroughly unrealistic, it completely takes you away for a few hours. "
— Nicole, 2/9/2014" one of my favorites of the series, a definite must read! "
— Chelsea, 2/1/2014" I'm usually a sucker for were-novels, but this one leaves me less than impressed. The main character couldn't seem to figure herself out and the author was incredibly redundant. "
— Brookanna, 1/24/2014" Excellent book and one of my favourites from the author. "
— Hamna, 1/19/2014" Definitely my favorite of the Others series. I loved the change of scenery and the new group. "
— Beth, 1/8/2014" Christine Warren is fun. Her books are just easy, fun reads. Why three stars and not four? I didn't connect with the characters like I do with other books. Would I recommend this book? Absolutely. Again, pure delight. "
— Elizabeth, 1/6/2014" Delightfully engaging, full of whimsical banter and some steamy interludes. "
— Vicci, 12/22/2013" I ate this book up! Way to go for Max and Kitty the lions. Funny and full of action and romance. "
— Heather, 12/12/2013" This one is going down as one of my very favourites. Loved it from the start. "
— Dalia, 12/11/2013" christine warren is one of my favorite authors for one day books it only took me like five hours to read but it was a fun five hours "
— Sarah, 9/7/2013" it was an awe inspiring book of love and betrayal "
— Ethan, 3/18/2013" Pretty formulaic. Although it does get kudos for dealing with were-lions which isn't the norm for were-lit. "
— Janece, 4/18/2012" This is like the 4th time I have read this book! It is a story worth repeating many times. "
— Amy, 7/15/2011" Good but not great. Average story, average adventure, average action, standard paranormal romance storyline, average characters. Redeemed by two hot sex scenes. "
— Natalie, 7/17/2010" Terrific romp, funny as hell. Shelly Fredman does funny mystery romance like no other. When you've done Evonovich to death, start on Fredman. "
— Julie, 7/7/2010" Liked the books but it was a bit too similar to the Janet Evanovich books. Light and entertaining. "
— Katy, 2/16/2010" A riot of a series: murder, scary guys, hunky guys, suspense, crazy family, crazier friends... all based in Philadelphia. If this series doesn't do something on film eventually... I will be shocked. <br/>You can tell Shelly Fredman loves her work... this book just flows. "
— Judith, 12/17/2008" this is the first of the series. i went to school with the author-easy fast read. "
