Publisher Description

Adventure is in Tory Brennan's blood. After all, she’s the grandniece of world-famous forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. Always up for a challenge, Tory and her science-geek friends spend their time exploring the marshlands of Loggerhead Island, home to the very off-limits Loggerhead Island Research Institute, where something strange is going on. After rescuing a stray wolfdog pup from a top-secret lab, Tory and her friends are exposed to a rare strain of canine parvovirus, changing them--and their DNA--forever. Now they are more than friends. They are a pack. They are Virals. And they're dangerous to the core. But are they unstoppable enough to catch a cold-blooded murderer?

"The newest Virals novel, 'Code', is the best of the series to date. The story revolves around the exploits of the viral pack - Tory, her wolf dog Coop, Ben, Shelton, and Hiram as they unravel clues to a sinister test of wits that a serial killer called the Gamemaster has devised. Using their viral senses and ingenuity, they have to unlock the mystery of several hidden ciphers before a ticking bomb goes off that could kill hundreds of people. It's a riveting and entertaining story with four likeable teens with highly developed instincts and the use of modern technology who have to solve the mystery before a hurricane rips across Charleston. Even the ending has an unexpected twist that leaves the reader wondering what more could happen to the pack. I loved this book and highly recommend it."

" I didn’t think I would like this book once I started reading, but it really surprised me. It’s a book about kids adventures, trials and tribulations. But I like a book that has background in either real like story’s or movies. This one was story of a spin off on the tv series Bones. I liked that, but what kept in suspense was trying to figure out where the science fiction came. I also like a book that isn’t a remake of a remake of a remake. It had mystery, it had suspense, it had action, and sci-fi. I was a little disappointed that there isn’t a sequel that I could jump right into, but I hope there is one later. I will keep checking. "

" I didn’t think I’d like this book in the beginning, but it picked up and soon I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I like how it references the tv show Bones, and especially loved the added sci-fi addition to it. Was disappointed that there was another book to jump into to continue on. I’ll have to keep checking to see if there is a sequel. But the mystery, keeps it going and the wanting to find out was the fantasy is going to come into play keeps you intrigued. I recommend this book, even if it is about the adventure of kids. "

" I was very disappointed. I hate it when a really good author finds something that sells well and becomes a formula-writer. Too much dialogue, lacks the usual Reichs power of description and goes on and on much too long. Rather predictable, too. Reviewed by Emily-Jane Hills Orford, award-winning author of "The Whistling Bishop" and "F-Stop: A Life in Pictures". "

As always, Reichs' writing style was just perfect and I'm beginning to really love these characters. I can't wait for the next one for more adventures with Tory and the virals! "
