About the Author

James Patterson is one of the most popular writers of all time, with more than 375 million copies of his books sold worldwide. He holds the record for most New York Times bestsellers and is the author of the two most popular detective series of the past decade, the Alex Cross novels and the Women’s Murder Club. Patterson has won an Edgar Award, the mystery world’s highest honor, and his novels Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider were made into feature films. His lifelong work to promote books and reading is reflected in his website ReadKiddoRead.com, which helps parents, grandparents, teachers, and librarians find the very best children’s books for their kids. About the Narrators

Jay Allison is one of public radio’s most honored producers. He has produced hundreds of documentaries and features for radio and television and has won virtually every major award, including six Peabodys. He is a founder of the Public Radio Exchange (prx.org), a distribution system for public radio, and Transom.org, a site that helps people tell their own stories. He produces The Moth Radio Hour and was the curator and producer of This I Believe on NPR. He is also the founder of the public radio stations for Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and Cape Cod where he lives.

Clayborne Carson, PhD, was a participant and observer of African American political movements during his undergraduate years at UCLA. Since receiving his doctorate in 1975, he has taught at Stanford University, where he is now professor of history and director of the King Papers Project. He has also been a visiting professor at American University, the University of California, Berkeley, and Emory University and a fellow at the Center for the Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford. His scholarly publications have focused on African American protest movements and the political thought of the period after World War II. His writings have appeared in leading historical journals and numerous encyclopedias, as well as in popular periodicals. His first book, In Struggle: SNCC and the Black Awakening of the 1960s, won the Frederick Jackson Turner Award of the Organization of American Historians. Dr. Carson has lectured at many colleges and universities in the United States and abroad on a wide range of topics, including King, Malcolm X, the Black Panther Party, Black-Jewish relations, and the need for a multi-cultural curriculum.

Angela Lin, an Earphones Award–winning audiobook narrator, graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a BFA degree in drama. A critically acclaimed actress, her credits include The Good Wife, Law & Order: SVU, and As the World Turns, among others.
