Juan Cabrillo and the Oregon crew's search for missing NASA technology leads to a globe-trotting adventure in this novel in the #1 New York Times-bestselling series.
On December 7, 1941, five brothers exploring a shaft on a small island off the coast of Washington state make an extraordinary discovery, only to be interrupted by news of Pearl Harbor.
In the present, Cabrillo stumbles upon a shocking revelation of his own. His search to untangle the mystery leads him first to that small island and its secret, and then much further back, to an ancient Chinese expedition, and a curse that seems to have survived for over five hundred years. If Cabrillo’s team is successful in its quest, the reward could be incalculable. If not...the only reward is death.

"Clive Cussler (and his many guest writers) is good at what he does. Adventure with enough plot so that it isn't vapid. Cussler's books take you away on a thrill ride that's a lot of fun if you let go of the fact that you are probably not reading a literary classic. But that's his intention, to entertain in a way that's not bogged down with pretentiousness. Good book to take on a subway ride or something similar:airplane for example, or escape with after a hard day at work."

" Clive's books keep the reader interested until the book is finished.I have never read a book of his that I didn't enjoy. His characters are all lovable even when they aren't supposed to be.What can I say, I love his books!!! "
— Laurie, 1/25/2014" An entertaining book but not as good as some of his others. It was pretty predictable in some ways but there was enough of a story line and enough action to make it fun to read. The ending is unexpected, a bit different than his others. "
— Carrie, 1/21/2014" This is another great Clive Cussler adventure for the Oregon Files, when Juan Cabrillo and his crew are after another ship from our history. Only they're after Argentinian soldiers, who are illegally drilling in Antaractica. Another compelling quick action-adventure on the high seas and abroad. Lots of drama and action for a great pageturner. "
— Kristen, 1/21/2014" I used to enjoy Clive Cussler's novels, especially for the perilous situations the heroes would be trapped in and the inventive solutions leading to their escape. However, this story was just too over the top. Cussler's books are becoming more and more unrealistic. Honestly, a country like Argentina discovering oil in Antarctica, developing oil rigs and no-one ever knew about it. Please!!!!!! And desecrating a World Historical SIte to get skeletons to fool their captors. Not impressed. "
— Deanna, 1/12/2014" This was not as good as most clive cussler books. Bit disappointing... "
— Susan, 1/11/2014" Deus ex machina "
— Fred, 1/10/2014" It was very exciting! I was hoping they could recover the ship, but that's not how it ended. I recommend it to all. "
— Brenda, 12/26/2013" This was one of the better Cussler books, but as predictable, the good guys win in the end and the bad guys plans to ruin the world are thwarted once more! "
— Tommie, 12/16/2013" This was a delightful read. Captivating and entertaining. I won't give it more stars because I think so much of the story was silly and "too convenient". But I really did enjoy it more than most of the other Cussler books. I think my favorite series of his is the Oregon Files. "
— Michelle, 11/21/2013" Juan Cabrillo is my favorite Cussler character. "
— Beth, 11/20/2013" As usual with Cussler - a great read with a twisting plot. "
— Brian, 11/12/2013" Juan Cabrillo and crew connect the clues and save America from a dangerous alliance between two unlikely countries. Fast paced and the good guys always win. "
— Lizpeveto, 9/23/2013" Total mind escape - great to listen while weeding the garden. Wouldn't recommend, however. "
— BettyAnn, 5/9/2012" It felt like it was rushed toward the end, but still exciting. "
— Kelly, 5/8/2012" Typcial Clive Cussler book. Good story, keep me interestd and wanting to read more. "
— Abby, 3/24/2012" The Silent Sea is packed with action, lots of turns and changes. Lots of intrigue and mystery. Ending is a bit weak though, hoping to find out about how it all happened in the next book. "
— Don, 2/23/2012" This wasn't one of his better books, the ending was awfully strange... "
— Theresa, 1/21/2012" I love the Oregon Files books and Jack DuBrul is definitely my favorite Cussler co-writer (and excellent author in his won right!). This book is tight, twisting and fun, while being just unbelievable enough to be trademark Cussler. "
— Shannon, 10/31/2011" Got lost following the story a bit, but Juan and his crew are so worth the struggle. "
— Eric, 10/30/2011" Pretty standard Cussler, pretty much a Micheal Bay movie in book form. Entertaining though, and nice and light. "
— Matt, 6/29/2011"
As most of Clive Cusslers books, this is an adventure, an interesting story of the past to begin with, and then ....into the future. Just a book you start and finish in (almost) one sitting.
Entertaining.. "
— Corry, 6/20/2011" One of Cussler's better books in along time. Very entertaining and an easy read. "
— Mikem, 6/12/2011" Love Juan Cabrillo & the Corporation books (The Oregon Files). This is one the best in the series. Non-stop action. Very enjoyable. "
— Jo, 6/4/2011" We are liking this book better than some of Clive Cussler's books. He goes into a lot of detail so listening to his books is sometimes tedious, but this one seemed more interesting. "
— Joanne, 5/23/2011" One of Clive's better yarns, with a great surprise at the end. "
— Rob, 5/21/2011" This is a Tom Clancy, Brad Thor type read, yet completely clean. Not one swear word or adult situation. Although most is cloak and dagger, there is violence, more than my kids would be ready for so age appropriateness be at least older than 12.
"
— Christin, 5/16/2011" Just another Clive Cussler Thriller where the good guys sweep in and win the battle against unbelievable odds! Just the way I like my stories!
"
— Eric, 5/16/2011" May 28/11: Chapter 6
June 06/11: Chapter 9
June 07/11: Chapter 11
June 08/11: Chapter 14
June 17/11: Chapter 17
June 18/11: Chapter 25
June 19/11: Finished "
— Lemonitsa, 5/15/2011" One of the best in the Oregon Files series. Maybe THE best. "
— Frank, 5/15/2011" Clive Cussler Novels = My Guilty Pleasure. :) "
— Robert, 5/10/2011" This was an OK light entertainment read. Plenty of ridiculous stuff in it, but enough of a story to keep it decently good. Not much else to say about it... "
