Publisher Description

Juan Cabrillo and the Oregon crew's search for missing NASA technology leads to a globe-trotting adventure in this novel in the #1 New York Times-bestselling series.

On December 7, 1941, five brothers exploring a shaft on a small island off the coast of Washington state make an extraordinary discovery, only to be interrupted by news of Pearl Harbor.

In the present, Cabrillo stumbles upon a shocking revelation of his own. His search to untangle the mystery leads him first to that small island and its secret, and then much further back, to an ancient Chinese expedition, and a curse that seems to have survived for over five hundred years. If Cabrillo’s team is successful in its quest, the reward could be incalculable. If not...the only reward is death.

"Clive Cussler (and his many guest writers) is good at what he does. Adventure with enough plot so that it isn't vapid. Cussler's books take you away on a thrill ride that's a lot of fun if you let go of the fact that you are probably not reading a literary classic. But that's his intention, to entertain in a way that's not bogged down with pretentiousness. Good book to take on a subway ride or something similar:airplane for example, or escape with after a hard day at work."

" Clive's books keep the reader interested until the book is finished.I have never read a book of his that I didn't enjoy. His characters are all lovable even when they aren't supposed to be.What can I say, I love his books!!! "

" An entertaining book but not as good as some of his others. It was pretty predictable in some ways but there was enough of a story line and enough action to make it fun to read. The ending is unexpected, a bit different than his others. "

" This is another great Clive Cussler adventure for the Oregon Files, when Juan Cabrillo and his crew are after another ship from our history. Only they're after Argentinian soldiers, who are illegally drilling in Antaractica. Another compelling quick action-adventure on the high seas and abroad. Lots of drama and action for a great pageturner. "

" I used to enjoy Clive Cussler's novels, especially for the perilous situations the heroes would be trapped in and the inventive solutions leading to their escape. However, this story was just too over the top. Cussler's books are becoming more and more unrealistic. Honestly, a country like Argentina discovering oil in Antarctica, developing oil rigs and no-one ever knew about it. Please!!!!!! And desecrating a World Historical SIte to get skeletons to fool their captors. Not impressed. "

" This was a delightful read. Captivating and entertaining. I won't give it more stars because I think so much of the story was silly and "too convenient". But I really did enjoy it more than most of the other Cussler books. I think my favorite series of his is the Oregon Files. "
