Chairman of the Corporation Juan Cabrillo and his mercenary crew steer theOregon into battle against a militant leader and his cult-like followers in this #1 New York Times-bestselling series. Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the covert combat ship Oregon have barely escaped a mission on the Congo River when they intercept a mayday from a defenseless boat under fire off the African coast. Still smarting from a weapons-trade gone bad and a double-cross, Cabrillo takes action. He manages to save the beautiful Sloane Macintyre, who's on a mission of her own, looking for a long-submerged ship that may hold a fortune in diamonds. But what surprises Cabrillo is her story about a crazy fisherman who claims to have been attacked on the open sea by giant metal snakes in the same area. What begins as a snake hunt leads Cabrillo onto the trail of a far more lethal quarry—a deranged militant and his followers who plan to unleash the devastating power of nature itself against all who oppose them.

"I enjoyed this book slightly less than the previous 3 in the series. It's still entertaining but I had a had time relating to the desert portions of the story. The desert is the last place I'd want to be! Still, I would recommend it as part of the series."

" Oregon Files series is great. The premise if fresh. Cussler found a winner here. "
— Kent, 2/20/2014" Enjoyed this book; held my interest throughout. "
— Diane, 2/18/2014" I got utterly bored in the last 5th of the book (the battle scenes). Plus I didn't like the liberal-bashing -- which was more obvious in this book than in others. Ecoterrorists-bad. People who wear Birkenstocks--Not. "
— Barbara, 2/14/2014" Clive is spot on with a thriller on the current affairs or problems with the world. The world is saved once again by Juan. "
— Rob, 2/14/2014" good read - kept me interested while reading - do not get to read often with my schedule "
— Dad, 2/13/2014" A fast paced exciting read. Oregon Files series. "

— J.P., 12/25/2013" Excitement, mystery, action...I feel kind of guilty as I started listening to this with my husband and I finished it without him. Lots of action, written like a movie plot, but definitely kept my interest. "
— Tracy, 12/7/2013" Classic Cussler action book! "
— Manuel, 12/6/2013" I love the non stop action and saving the world that clive Cusler uses. I also love any kind of naval adventure. This very possible scenario had me twisting and turning just like the plot does. He's techie about motors and guns too. "
— The, 11/27/2013" This is the book Duane and I ended up listening to on the way to Myrtle Beach. It's surprisingly good--for a "guy" book. Lots of action/environmental concern--a bit graphic in places but good to listen to when you have 8 hours in the car. One disc left.... "
— Christina, 11/1/2013" I think I have a character crush on Juan Cabrillo.... "
— Kim, 7/26/2013" Standard page-turning thriller, though it was little disconcerting that more than half the action occurred because the good guys kept screwing up. They always got themselves out of the jam in the nick of time, of course. "
— Glenn, 4/14/2013" Entertaining, but not as good as the old Clive Cussler books. "
— Sharon, 3/29/2013" As always these are fun and exciting books. I should probably buy the books since I read them over and over. If you like adventure stories, you will love these. "
— Dorothy, 2/20/2013" I love this book! It had adeveture, advaced tech, cool stuff, guns, and a bad*** captain. This book was very interesting and exciting. "
— Max, 2/8/2013" I loved how this book went back in time and discussed what happened to the travelers! I also love the main character, he is strong but not arrogant. "
— Lindsay, 6/25/2012" 3.5 really. It was ok but I felt like I was on action overload. So off to more character development I go. "
— Hilary, 5/26/2012" An African terrorist group working with a European eco-terrorist to create the deadliest storm ever to hit the Americas, this was an amazing book, you cant stop turning the pages "
— Ian, 1/24/2012" 3.5 really. It was ok but I felt like I was on action overload. So off to more character development I go. "
— Hilary, 6/14/2011" One of my audio books in the car - and it is as good as all of Clive Cusslers others! "
— Nicola, 5/8/2011" Excitement, mystery, action...I feel kind of guilty as I started listening to this with my husband and I finished it without him. Lots of action, written like a movie plot, but definitely kept my interest. "
— Tracy, 4/24/2011" I think I have a character crush on Juan Cabrillo.... "
— Kim, 4/5/2011" Clive Cussler may have made his fortune on Dirk Pitt but I like this series much better. "
— Melva, 3/18/2011" This was my first Clive Cussler book. I loved it. It was action packed all the way through. A great read. "
— Josh, 2/17/2011" A solid Cussler (although I do not know how much Cussler and how much Brul is in this book) and that is enough for all Cussler fans. Juan Cabrillo is no Dirk Pitt and in general the characters are not so 'likeable' but still it's a pretty solid 'save the world' action novel. "
— Jakub, 2/14/2011" I always enjoy the escapism of Cussler - the guys in white hats always win. "
— Katherine, 1/26/2011" Very good book. It nicely maintains the Oregon series "
— Sheldon, 1/11/2011" I liked it, but the author is definitely a Man's Man. Lots of paragraphs dedicated to the description of the AK-47 guns in the fight scenes. Fun story though. Love the global warming twist lol. "
— Katie, 9/9/2010" As always these are fun and exciting books. I should probably buy the books since I read them over and over. If you like adventure stories, you will love these. "

— George, 8/8/2010" Enjoyed this book; held my interest throughout. "
— Diane, 6/13/2010" I got utterly bored in the last 5th of the book (the battle scenes). Plus I didn't like the liberal-bashing -- which was more obvious in this book than in others. Ecoterrorists-bad. People who wear Birkenstocks--Not. "
