"I will admit I did have my doubts about this book. But it was suprisingly good. American wasn't stupid which was a big one for me. But she also wasn't overly confident and was wait for it....HONEST. Well until she saw Aspen....but she was true to her feelings about Maxon and was willing to let herself grow. I liked the plot and thought it was interesting and after I finished the book it left me with some questions which is good if there is a sequel (which thank god there is) I really liked Maxon allot and thought he was kind and real. I liked Aspen too at the beggining of the book though I started to doubt him as a character towards the end. I am looking forward toand eagerly awaiting the sequel. Kudos to you Keira Cass! And a thank you to my sister for kinldy allowing me to read this book nd then agreeing with me when I said I hated a certain character or enjoyed a certain character. (This may be the same sort of fan-girl-ing we did for the Luxen series ;P)"

“Reality TV meets dystopian fairy tale in Kiera Cass’ delightful debut. Charming, captivating, and filled with just the right amount of swoon!”
— Kiersten White, New York Times bestselling author of Paranormalcy“A cross between The Hunger Games (minus the bloodsport) and The Bachelor (minus the bloodsport)…[Cass] deftly builds the chemistry between America and Maxon, while stoking the embers of America’s first, forbidden love.”
— Publishers Weekly“An engrossing tale reminiscent of Shannon Hale’s Princess Academy and Ally Condie’s Matched. Fairy-tale lovers will lose themselves in America’s alternate reality.”
— School Library Journal“Cass’ immensely readable debut novel is a less drastic Hunger Games (2008), with elaborate fashion and trappings… The fast-paced action and comforting predictability of the love story will have readers gasping for the [sequel].”
— Booklist" I loved the cover of this book immediately but I thought I wouldn't like the story. But it was the opposite: I admire it and read it in 2 days..simply could't stop reading! And I can't wait to read the second book of this trilogy! The characters are great, I totally fell in love with the prince..the only negative thing I noticed was the fact that I knew from the beginning how the story would go on and I was right with my predictions..but that didn't bother me at all because there are still things after the last chapter which seem mysterious and force me to read the next book. "
— Sandra, 2/13/2014" Funny- I hate TVs "The Bachelor" but this dystopian "Bachelor" is oddly appealing. America is an amusing character... Love her interaction with Maxon. "
— Colleen, 2/9/2014" I did not expect much from this book but I loved it. I absolutely loved it. Only problem is that it ended! "
— Alex, 12/27/2013" liked it. but, the idea wasn't such a novelty. it was like reading about the bachelor(tv series). "
— Pinky, 12/13/2013" Enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but I wish it were just one book rather than a series. "
— Manda, 11/28/2013" Interesting story... I liked the concept, it's pretty interesting for sure. An easy read, also, and easy to pick up and just go through- it's like Hunger Games meets the Bachelor, meets Anna and the King. I don't know... I have high hopes for the second book and will be reading it though! "
— Sarah, 11/9/2013" Simple yet enjoyable beach read "
— Karen, 11/4/2013" It turned out to be a pretty darn good book! I have to wonder what they were thinking though when they posed the model for this book, as it looks like she's smelling her armpit. But don't judge this book by its cover and you'll be just fine. :) "
— Julene, 10/29/2013" Noooooo!! its finished. i really liked the book. A charming prince and beautiful ladies, who is going to survive...:) "
— Amaka, 10/23/2013" Love this book! I want America to end up with Maxton!!!!!! "
— Carter, 10/16/2013" 2.5 stars to three stars. I keep changing my mind. "
— Jami, 9/15/2013" I read this through, to the end thinking it was good. love the dystopia. lov e the forbidden romance. love how Cass knows exactly how to complicate Mer's world. "
— Lisa, 9/4/2013" So "finished" is sort of an exaggeration for this book. I purchased it for my library's YA collection because of the popularity and hype for the series. However, I was only able to handle about 100 pages of this silly book. Maybe teen girls will like it. I hope so, but it wasn't for me. "
— Kathleen, 8/6/2013" This book is my favorite at the moment and only took about a day to read because it was so good! I'm sad that it basically left you hanging but I can't wait to read the next book when America finally gets that she belongs with Maxon (hopefully). "
— Lydia, 3/27/2013" I would have to agree that some of it is quite juvenile. It was clearly written for a teenage audience, which unfortunately I haven't been part of for quite some time. ;-) Still, this book read like a train and made me curious for just a bit more. "
— Evelien, 12/4/2012" Light reading and entertaining. A little too "saved by Prince Charming", "love triangle al a Hunger Games" "
— Jodi, 6/29/2012" That was really good. I couldn't put it down (it's 1:30 am). I can't wait for the 2nd book. I don't know how this book got 1 or 2 stars. Go Team Maxon :P lol "
