"I am always looking for fantasy books, and I happened upon this book back in 1996 while on such a search. Friends who had read it were divided as to whether this new tale on the Arthur legend was a good read. Some were put-off by the idea that it was written by a New-Ager. My verdict: A good story."

" This is as close to a Harry Potter book as is imaginable, yet Chopra gives more insight into humanity and the roles that myth plays. A wonderful, inspirational, escapist fiction read. "
— Rico, 2/17/2014" Hhhhmmmmm.....this one was a toughy for me. It is an interesting twist on continuing the King Arthur tale, but I had a hard time getting into the story. It jumps all over the place. I'm glad I finished it, but I do not think I will be seeking any other Deepak Chopra fiction. The story is deep, just not my cup of tea. The writing is beautiful, though. "
— Tammie, 2/13/2014" Great story, didn't realize that Deepak Chopra was actually a spiritual author, and you wouldn't know it unless you read the preface. He does a great job of portraying his morals in the story without being too obvious about it. "
— Colin, 2/3/2014" Well written story on the modern meaning of King Arthur's story. Some slow parts but comes together nicely. "
— Nichol, 1/27/2014" Confusing, boring, I ended up speed-reading the end just to finish it. "
— Jo, 1/27/2014" This was a bit of a slow read. I just trudged through the middle but it began to pick up at the end. A very existential view of the Arthurian legend. Seemed moreso to be a treaty on reincarnation. It was ok, but I wouldn't highly recommend it. "
— Suzanne, 1/20/2014" i am yet to learn as i have just finished 30 pages "
— Geetha, 1/9/2014" I remember reading this book quite a while ago, but I honestly do not remember when. A very good bit of fiction with good life lessons told through the various experiences. Good book. "
— DJ, 1/2/2014" Deepak Chopra, writing a modern-day Arthurian fantasy? This book was vaguely entertaining, and I was looking for easy reading. The ending was really shoddy though--this was where Chopra really tried to weave in the element of spirituality at the last minute, but failed. "
— X-topher, 12/11/2013" A new take on the Merlin story. "
— Jackie, 12/8/2013" A good story on its own but if you have some knowledge of the Chopra teachings it is even better. "
— Anne, 12/8/2013" A really interesting (New Age) take on the Arthurian legends. "
— Todd, 12/3/2013" I remember reading this a long time. It was bizarre, new-agey, and pretended to be a lot deeper than it really was. (I could compare it to the Matrix with regard to that last point.) "
— Rick, 11/23/2013" DEFINITE SKIP!!! Unless you enjoy your philosophy/spirituality spoon-fed to you, laced with saccharine and written with regurgitated Celine Dion lyrics. RALPH! "
— Shannon, 9/23/2013" Guh. I read this against my better judgement on the recommendation of my very cool, but rather New-Agey uncle. Deepak Chopra's made himself very rich off the backs of gullible New Age types, though, so great for him. "
— Natalie, 12/31/2012" Intriguing idea and great use of a fable to impart key concepts. But really a dry read. The prologue and earlier chapters were better. "
— Amy, 11/28/2012" Great novel! This was a cool unique present day story of the return of Arthur and his knights. I read this when I was 15 and loved it. I suggest if you want a good story, read it, but don't read the psycho-analysis by the author at the beginning. "
— Andrew, 11/25/2012" Don't discount this just because it was written by Deepak Chopra and Oprah loves him. I very nearly did!! I really enjoyed this book. It blends Arthurian legend with a healthy dose of spirituality and new age mysticism. A very exciting read. "
— Laura, 11/21/2012" Just finished this book - it was a good read! "
— Dot, 9/27/2012" Indulgent, predictable, and ultimately meaningless. "
— Letitia, 9/18/2012" I was very surprised he wrote fiction and even more surprised how good the book was. "
— Lou, 9/16/2012" it's amazingggg <3 "
— Desert, 7/17/2012" This was an okay book. I didn't dislike it as much as Jessica, but thought it was difficult to follow and somewhat far flung for the Arthurian legend. "
— Susan, 3/29/2012" I had heard this name so often, but had never read anything by him. This was his first book, and was fiction. I have highlighted so many passages in it its more colorful than I don't know what! Great book, great read, great message! "
— Julie, 9/14/2011" Though I enjoyed the prologue of the story, I just couldn't get involved in anything beyond it. "
— Kim, 7/8/2011" A new take on the Merlin story. "
— Jackie, 5/23/2011" almost anything involving merlin is good. this one by deepak chopra had many religious overtones but such is chopra but he is such a magnificent storyteller that still read the book. very interesting. "
— Gary, 3/23/2011" There were a few elements that were not totally clear, but the Arthurian legend is such a great one, and I've read a number of different takes on it....I really enjoyed this book very much! "
— Kathryn, 3/8/2011" A really interesting (New Age) take on the Arthurian legends. "
— Todd, 2/10/2011" Chopra really puts his religious views of reincarnation and fate into this story. Interesting take on the age old lore. "
— Donald, 2/1/2011" This is an absolutely capturing book, if you are a spiritual being or not. I was not able to put it aside. Brilliant. <br/> "
— Petra, 12/24/2010" I was very surprised he wrote fiction and even more surprised how good the book was. "
— Lou, 11/17/2010" I remember reading this a long time. It was bizarre, new-agey, and pretended to be a lot deeper than it really was. (I could compare it to the Matrix with regard to that last point.) "
— Rick, 5/29/2010" This was an okay book. I didn't dislike it as much as Jessica, but thought it was difficult to follow and somewhat far flung for the Arthurian legend. "
— Susan, 5/12/2010" Weird psychobabble retelling of the Arthurian Legend based on the equally weird philosophy that Chopra invented. Initially fascinating until you realize it's crap. Charles Williams this guy ain't. "
— Columbusdidnotlandhere, 4/13/2010" A good story on its own but if you have some knowledge of the Chopra teachings it is even better. "
— Anne, 2/24/2010" This takes awhile to unwind the characters and events. the author moves the characters in and out of time, it started to feel coherent in the middle of the book. "
— Leslie, 1/2/2010" Though I enjoyed the prologue of the story, I just couldn't get involved in anything beyond it. "
— Kim, 12/22/2009" The worst book I have ever read in my life. My Chopra should retire from fiction. "
— Esther, 12/12/2009" I became bored with this book - and I think Chopra is best when he is dealing with his core topics of health and philosophy/spirituality. "
