"One of the best historical romance series I've read. Jennifer Ashley's MacKenzie brothers are all distinct characters, as are their ladies, and the family as a whole is nicely woven through the three books published so far. Of those three, MSOLC is my absolute, hands-down favorite. Both Cam and Ainsley are so well-done. They are older people with uneasy pasts that are very contemporary. I like that Ashley has taken this approach with the MacKenzie books, it refreshes the genre for me and gave me more reasons to invest in her characters. This one will be re-read many times."

" Still can't supplant Ian and Beth as my favorites, but Cameron and Ainsley are close seconds. A sweet book that finally sheds some light on Cameron's troubled past, I enjoyed the way their romance unfolded. The sidebars with Eleanor and the reaolution with Night-blooming Jasmine both felt a little clunky, but apparently I don't like anything that distracts from the hero and heroine in Ashley's books. "

" I didn't get quite as pulled in by this story as by the first book in the series, nor was it as unique. I liked both of the main characters well enough, but it was a lukewarm kind of like rather than a passionately love -- despite all the passionate boffing they were constantly engaging in. "

" Good romance, better then the previous one. They're so similar now, but I can't wait for the next. I wish that Ainsley was a stronger female character, as I thought she was when we thought she was a spy/thief at the beginning. But I did like Cam and Daniel, and hope to one day see Daniel's story. "
