Publisher Description

Jack Reacher was alone, the way he liked it, soaking up the hot, electric New York City night, watching a man cross the street to a parked Mercedes and drive it away. The car contained one million dollars in ransom money. And Edward Lane, the man who paid it, will pay even more to get his family back. Lane runs a highly illegal soldiers-for-hire operation. He will use any amount of money and any tool to find his beautiful wife and child. And then he'll turn Jack Reacher loose with a vengeance - because Reacher is the best man hunter in the world.

On the trail of a vicious kidnapper, Reacher is learning the chilling secrets of his employer's past... and of a horrific drama in the heart of a nasty little war. He's beginning to realize that Edward Lane is hiding something. Something dirty. Something big. But Reacher also knows this: he's already in way too deep to stop now.

"Another good story from Lee Child. A thriller. Jack is sitting at an outdoor cafe in New York having his coffee when he sees a man's life change forever....Reacher finds himself involved in a strange kidnapping. I figured it out just about the time Reacher got that funny feeling that something wasn't right but as in life one can not scream at a book the same as screaming at the big screen cause no one hears...very brutal and Reacher style but then Jack always takes the hard way..."

" "61 Hours" was my first novel by Lee Child and I was totally caught up in it. I read it in a couple of days and traded it for this one, "The Hard Way," another detective story in Child's Jack Reacher series. I was disappointed this time around, as I had it figure out early on. I suspect Child hasn't driven much in a big city. Would I read another? Absolutely. It is a good beach book. "
