It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on. For Harry, this is that story at last. Before losing his mother, twelve-year-old Prince Harry was known as the carefree one, the happy-go-lucky Spare to the more serious Heir. Grief changed everything. He struggled at school, struggled with anger, with loneliness—and, because he blamed the press for his mother’s death, he struggled to accept life in the spotlight. At twenty-one, he joined the British Army. The discipline gave him structure, and two combat tours made him a hero at home. But he soon felt more lost than ever, suffering from post-traumatic stress and prone to crippling panic attacks. Above all, he couldn’t find true love. Then he met Meghan. The world was swept away by the couple’s cinematic romance and rejoiced in their fairy-tale wedding. But from the beginning, Harry and Meghan were preyed upon by the press, subjected to waves of abuse, racism, and lies. Watching his wife suffer, their safety and mental health at risk, Harry saw no other way to prevent the tragedy of history repeating itself but to flee his mother country. Over the centuries, leaving the Royal Family was an act few had dared. The last to try, in fact, had been his mother. . . . For the first time, Prince Harry tells his own story, chronicling his journey with raw, unflinching honesty. A landmark publication, Spare is full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.

"Ohhh Harry is so next level expecially for a Royal a real extension of his mum, it has just shed light on so many things. I do not just see what is flash before my eyes or past my ears, I now listen research before making a final judgement. If you have doubts about him or events take the time to listen to his voice hearing his emotions with different events it becomes so clear yes I know there are 2 sides then the middle but you fall back onto his side of the fence now we the global people what is mother lived in and tried to share with her sons and she also did what he is trying to do come on blind Freddy even sees. Now for the hard bit let us all band together and stop buying magazines, papers, subscriptions to this negative stuff send a contact note saying your making a stand against this sort of media crap we all should of insisted on it when poor Diana died as he would not be going thru this now so have a voice write out a note paste it everywhere and let Harry know we are standing by him, supporting him and his family, the Royals turned their back and did some terrible things let us make it right ?"

“Spare is the up-close, behind the scenes, intimate, and forthright memoir of a man reclaiming his own story—its joys, sorrows, aspirations, conflicts, writ small and large…An unsparing glimpse into an extraordinary life.”
— Barnes&Noble.com“Harry’s frustrations are deeply felt and authentically conveyed, as is the joy he takes in nature and in his friendships. This royal family tell-all delivers.”
— Publishers Weekly“Delivers further revelations about his struggles within the institution of the British monarchy and the unrelenting harassment he has endured from the British tabloids…His story is more substantive than some readers might expect, depending on their loyalties to the monarchy…His portraits are also surprisingly sympathetic…[and] feel palpable and heartfelt.”
— Kirkus Reviews" Wonderful! Harry is a great person, best wishes from New Zealand to him and his Family "
— Brenda, 8/17/2023" Being a prince doesn’t make your life perfect and this story really brought home the challenges of growing up in the public eye and how hard it is when your family is emotionally stunted. I did not expect to like this but it left me with great sympathy for Harry. It’s a bit whiny at times, but he doesn’t pull any punches about his own mistakes. "
— Genna, 7/1/2023" Horrible, shocking. troubling. Life for him and his is like he rest of us, except he's royal and rich. "
— David Vervaet, 5/16/2023" Can’t recommend this autobiography, it’s way too one sided and victimised. I believe things were not glamorous as many people think it was, being in the Royal family, but this book goes too far on top of everything else H&M have said and done since they left. Just my thoughts and opinions. "
— Lucy, 5/2/2023" The story was running with speed and was interesting. It was also sad story. I do wish them happiness! Harry is great reader! "
— Mary, 3/23/2023" A very eye opening book about the English monarchy and who is really running the show. I loved the voice of Harry as narrator and sympathize with he and his family. Highly recommend. "
— Beth, 3/13/2023" I must admit this purchase wasn't borne of any desire to hear the truth of Harry's story but rather the chance to forget my life for a bit and delve into the problems of another. After finishing this, I was moved, saddened, infuriated and inspired. Moved at this human's touching story, saddened by his terrible loss at 12 years old with no help to work through those giant emotional injuries, infuriated by the dangerous, unfeeling, money hungry machine called The Press and inspired by his and Meghan's determination and grit to find their own way out when there was no other choice. Highly recommend this book. Well done, Harry. "
— T Allison, 2/16/2023" This is the best book I've read in a long time. It is well written, well narrated & provides a personal glimpse into the world of a real-life Prince. He seems to be sincere, authentic, relatable and normal. Along with his life as a royal, he shares in detail about his military service, humanitarian work and of course how the devastating loss of his "mummy" has impacted and seemingly continues to impact every aspect of his life. I have followed the Royal Family for years and I thoroughly enjoyed Harry's (or Henry's or Harold's or Darling Boy's) book. Good for him for telling his own story - in his own way - on his own terms. I highly recommend this book. "
— JM, 2/15/2023" Loved this book, narrated brilliantly and so interesting. Really puts a lot into perspective as to why he is the man he is today. Loved the humour, loved the pragmatism, and loved to listen to a different story to the one the press tell. "
— Denise Edwards, 2/15/2023" I really enjoyed listening to this and for the first time fealing the raw emotion of Prince Harry he is after all a person with feelings like all of us seeking a place in the world. I hope Harry an Megan find peace and happiness in their children all the days of their lives. "
— Carine, 2/13/2023" Honest Raw and beautiful.. this man is full of love "
