"I found myself very much pulled into this second book of the Witches of East End. The multiple stories were woven together more closely making the book a quicker read than the first."
— Tamara (4 out of 5 stars)
“A speedy and compelling urban-fantasy/romance.”
— Booklist“A compelling tale of powerful magic, romance, betrayal, and suspense.”
— Library Journal" This book was so bad I didn't finish it. The author, who appears to be young, writes for a certain age of nonliteray minded women (think slacks, "frosted" hair, sensible shoes). Also, while this is a series, it's really just a "mystery" in disguise. Within one chapter (actually less) I knew exactly where this was going. Ugh. Don't waste your time, and I've wasted too much time writing THIS! "
— Michelle, 2/5/2014" it was ok. just an ok read. i expected more for the second to witches of east end.. "
— Alana, 2/2/2014" Not that good. Won't be reading anymore of the series. "
— Lisa, 1/30/2014" Serpent's Kiss is the second book in Cruz's Wiches of East End Series, and continues the story of three modern day witches who just happen to be immortals and Norse gods and goddesses. I can't remember what I rated the first book, but for me, I just couldn't rate this book higher than 3 stars. Overall, I found the story enjoyable and liked learning more about the characters, especially Joanna, Ingrid, and Freya. I especially liked the themes of good vs evil and magic, and the incorporation of Norse mythology. I also had to appreciate the little plot twist at the end. Although these things made the story interesting and enjoyable, I thought the story started slow and lagged in several places; and even found myself bored at times throughout the story. I also had a really hard time getting into this story. As once I start a series I have to finish it (for better or for worse), I plan on reading the next book in this series. Would I recommend it to other readers? Maybe, depending on the reader. "
— K, 1/27/2014" This series is not for me. I was force reading this book but overall the concept of witches and Norse gods is not something that held any interest for me. I felt the characters were flat and midway I decided I care not for their story. "
— Liz, 1/23/2014" Better than the first one but it just ends leaving you hanging, as book two trilogies do, now I have to wait a year to find out what happens. "
— Heather, 1/21/2014" Loved it! It ended in a cliff hanger and now I have to wait until August for the 3rd book! "
— Theresa, 1/20/2014" great book....not a fan of the ending "
— Heather, 1/13/2014" I have to wait until June 2013 to find out how it ends bummer "
— Bonnie, 1/12/2014" Love this series! Once again, cliffhanger..... now have to wait for the 3rd book - hopefully it won't be too long. "
— Karen, 12/1/2013" I did not finish this book. The story line will draw you in but there is too much lovey dovey stuff going on. "
— Leah, 7/29/2013" ehhh...was OK. "
— Christine, 7/10/2013" I enjoyed this book better than that first. Really upset the third doesn't come out until next June........ "
— Margaux, 4/16/2013" I am enjoying this series and all of its supernatural references. "
— Cetta, 1/3/2013" sexier than the first book - plot still holds strong - ending is definitely not real ending, but just segue to next book - more plot holes than the first, but hopefully just because it's a transitional novel "
— Carrie, 12/29/2012" second book as good as the first. The author keeps you guessing and brings true enjoyment back to reading. This is the authors more adult books but still a quick read. "
