"Great book and series...in this book things become a little serious between Fang and Max...enough that my 10 year old son might say this is stupid or gross and put it down, enough that my 12 year old would be interested without getting an education. The two split ways later in the series so things don't become anymore serious and readers get to see that life moves on and their can even be joy, happiness, and cooperation after a break-up. Nice change after Romeo and Juliet and Edward and Bella."

“The short, action-packed chapters end breathlessly, with twists at every turn…Adrenaline galore.”
— Kirkus Reviews“I was dubious when I read the blurb of the first Maximum Ride novel. Don’t be. Get over it and get your hands onto the latest and hottest teenage fiction series that will grab young readers by the throat…Patterson’s dialogue is fabulous. His creations fire off the most amazing put downs to adults. His humour and insight into adolescent attitude is a delight for young readers and will bring a wry smile to older readers still alert enough to be able to turn the pages…Accessible, fast paced, humorous adventure.”
— NATE Classroom, National Association for the Teaching of English (UK)“Buckle your seatbelts…Lots of action, with wisecracking commentary by Max, make this a swift and entertaining read, and fans of the series will gobble it up.”
— Kliatt (starred review)“Patterson’s turbocharged Maximum Ride [series] pushes into high gear in this exciting [installment]…A major adult author comes through in the clutch.”
— Barnes & Noble, editorial review“The chapters are short, taut, and filled with action, keeping readers engaged.”

— Jules, 2/20/2014" James Patterson once again did an amazing job with this book. I love this series because even though some of the concepts are hard to grasp at first, the humor in the book and the characters sarcasm makes it a light, fun read. Whenever I'm not laughing, I'm sitting on the edge of my seat, turning pages, wanting to know what happens next. Though there were some plot twists I didn't expect, it was still a great continuation to a great series. "
— Avery, 2/20/2014" Max and her avian-human family are off on another adventure as they learn the name of their nemesis - Itex Corp - which plans to eliminate all weaklings and reduce the population of the world by half. Max learns the identity of her mother and father but the flock divides in two as Fang and Max fight. "
