Angel says that Fang will be the first to die, and Angel is never wrong. Maximum Ride is used to living desperately on the run from evil forces sabotaging her quest to save the world--but nothing has ever come as close to destroying her as this horrifying prophetic message. Fang is Max's best friend, her soul mate, her partner in the leadership of her flock of winged children. A life without Fang is a life unimaginable.
When a newly created winged boy, the magnificent Dylan, is introduced into the flock, their world is upended yet again. Raised in a lab like the others, Dylan exists for only one reason: he was designed to be Max's perfect other half. Thus unfolds a battle of perfection versus passion that terrifies, twists, and turns...and meanwhile, the apocalypse is coming.

"Most of this book was kind of confusing because sometimes a fact stated earlier in the series (like Celeste being an angel to being a ballerina, and Max's hair color which keeps changing throughout the series from brown to blonde to brown to blonde to now brown with blonde and red streaks in it! I give up on her hair color!)Besides the confusing changing-of-facts, though, it was actually really good. The end was really sad, though. It literally made me cry!"

“Fang will excite the legions of fans waiting for this installment in the flock’s story.”
— Booklist“This series is all about voice, something mastered by both Patterson and Apple. It’s impossible not to like Max, a girl who lives life on a knife-edge and can never out-fly trouble.”
— AudioFile“Patterson has created another thrilling adventure that is sure to capture readers’ imaginations…The action builds throughout, and there are enough plot twists and surprises to keep readers guessing about what will happen next. Patterson’s quick-paced tale of adventure, betrayal, and redemption is full of vibrant and memorable characters. It truly has bite.”
