"Pretties is an amazing book. The world that Pretties is set in an absolutely wonderful world to imagine. Scott Westerfeld is amazing at creating characters, plot, and description. I never had any trouble in figuring out what exactly was happening, unlike other books. Basically, Pretties's plot is that Tally Youngblood has just become "Pretty" and she is living her new life in New Pretty Town. Then an old friend drops by and gives her a note, that she had written herself. She then realizes what exactly being "Pretty" meant. I love Scott's imagination. His writing is so bold, and he took a great risk of writing this book. I think he did an amazing job. This world of his is so intricate and he describes it so well. The only problem I have had with this book is it being a little too cheesy. Because seeing "Shay-la" and "Tally-wa" can get a little annoying. Other than that, it is wonderful. Pretties is a sterling book. It is an superb romance set in a superb world. I highly recommend this book and the series as a whole."

“Riveting and compulsively readable, this action-packed sequel does not disappoint. Just as good as its predecessor, it will leave fans breathlessly waiting for the trilogy’s final volume.”
— Booklist“Westerfeld has built a masterfully complex and vivid civilization. His characters are multidimensional, especially Tally, who wrestles with what she has done in the past and what she will be forced to do in the future. Uglies and Pretties are both nearly impossible to put down.”
— School Library Journal" This book started out slow and boring to me, but then picked up a bit. I'll likely read book #3. I've decided I hate the term "bubbly" though. "
— Kacie, 2/13/2014" I actually really enjoyed the first novel, Uglies, because I honestly believed in everything the main character was going for, and I eagerly began the second one and it was absolutely terrible. She turns into a 'pretty'. That's all I have to say. That's all I can say. Those are the only words that I can force out of my mouth when talking about this book. Other than that this book was definitely not pretty. It was, in fact, pretty ugly. "
— Rachel, 2/2/2014" Began to get a bit repetative but was still addicted to reading the book. Good read :) "
— Abgelu, 1/27/2014" I really like it!! I can't wait to read the rest. Really good, similar to hunger games, but slightly less violet. "
— Jean, 1/21/2014" Good follow up to Uglies. I got tired of the pretty talk and if seemed to drag a bit at first. I was a little annoyed at the notions that God and religion are stupid... which they aren't. But, it was good in the end. "
— Millie, 1/18/2014" While the first book - Uglies - was a very interesting take on a dystopic future, the second book on the series falls flat and overly contrived. "
— Renata, 12/20/2013" pretty pumped out for Specials! "
— Aishah, 12/13/2013" Not sure if I'm going to read the next one. "
— Priya, 11/17/2013" Its a good book! I loved the whole series and I read it over and over because its just that good! :) I recomend this book and series to anyone who wants a book they just can't put down. "
— Carolyne, 11/13/2013" I loved this book. It still isn't the best i've read but I loved it and couldn't stop reading until the end. I was so happy when she got with Zane. I just couldn't wait to read the other book to see how the relationship eveolved. "
— Fiona, 9/15/2013" Equal to the first book. Another great read! "
— Sarah, 4/30/2013" Surprisingly philosophical. Great YA book about conforming, free will, and peace. "
— Shauna, 4/18/2013" Pretties is going right up there with my favorite books. It took everything in Uglies and just let it explode in a way that made Scott Westerfeld's world crystal clear. I loved New Pretty Town and all of the characters in it. "
— Obuchi, 10/22/2011" If I could give this book four and a half stars I would! I thought, despite the somewhat slow start, it was a great follow up to Uglies and has left me wanting to read Specials pretty sharpish! "
— Christine, 2/26/2010" Super fast read. Each of these books seem to end with like a kind of shocking thing that was kind of expected. "
— Lauren, 2/6/2010" Still REALLY enjoying this series. "
— Whitney, 4/21/2009" So much better than the first book. At first you may be like, seriously? bubbly? After not too long, it grows on you and you can't help but read the book the whole way through! I am glad I didn't give up on these books... because so far... it is only getting better! "
— Rachel, 12/30/2008" This continues to be an interesting series, though I don't love the characters nearly so much as Leviathan. "
— Molly, 5/2/2008" nich so gut wie der erste Teil, aber immer noch klasse! "
— Yvi, 12/23/2007" What an electrifying sequel! And my word, what an ending! I can't wait to see what happens in Specials. :) "
