Jocelynn Drake makes her stunning debut with this paranormal tale of vampires, evil elves, and a kick-butt heroine with a sizzling-and deadly-ability. Nightwalker Mira has survived centuries, in part owing to her elemental control of fire. But when the long-imprisoned naturi threaten to destroy vampire and human alike, Mira finds herself turning to a most unexpected ally-the vampire hunter Danaus.

"I liked it enough to buy more of the series. It`s not a typical take on vampires and I rather like that. With so many authors writing about Vampires, it`s refreshingly different. Different enough for me to buy more of the series."

" It took me forever to get deep enough into the book to want to keep reading it. The first hundred pages are deep with world building only to come out with a fairly ordinary world. Mira, the Fire Starter, is a 600 year old vampire with the ability to channel fire. Danaus is not exactly human and spents his time killing vampires. Not an auspicious start but suddenly they have a mutal enemy, the naturi (a lot like Sidhe only different.) Although there is a lot of action in this story, there is not a lot of character building. I am hoping to see more of that in book 2. Book 1 starts in Savannah and I'm a little disappointed that we've been all around the world. The next book starts in Venice. I suspect it will be easier to get into since I am already familiar with the world. "
— Jodi, 2/16/2014" In genre that can be a bit overly melodramatic, down to down right nasty, I found this book fun and full of action "
— Alan, 2/15/2014" A very enjoyable read, and I will be getting the next book in the series. "
— Crystal, 1/29/2014" One of the best debuts that I have ever read! Strong, female vampire protagonist. "
— Candace, 1/11/2014" Just as good the third time around... "
— Diane, 12/9/2013" 3.5 stars. I enjoyed this book. Lots of action and complex relationships within like and between different species. I will continue reading the series. "
— Veronica, 12/7/2013" This women is master of story telling this book is fast paced yet achingly slow in building the action. "
— Sabrina, 12/3/2013" This was a fast read and couldn't put it down Enjoyed the book, though it was predictable most of the time. Takes a fun twist at the end. Left me hanging a little, but I guess that's what some book series do to you. "
— Liezle, 11/2/2013" A really slow start and I had a tough time getting into the characters, especially Mira. Though being a fire-starter is an interesting twist, I just wasn't captivated. And while the action and story picked up, the ending also set me off, so I won't be investing in the next books of the series. "
— Rebeccah, 10/2/2013" Good read with an interesting plot. Waiting to see where it goes in the next book. "
— Robert, 1/21/2013" One of the worst books I have ever read. It wasn't worth the paper it was printed on, if I had actually paid for this book I would have demanded my money back. "
— Phoenixangel444, 10/25/2012" I really like this book. It kept me hooked and made me laugh when I least expected it. "

— Jef, 3/11/2011Jocelynn Drake constantly has stories rattling around in her brain—dark tales of failure and triumph with a price, tales of love, and tales of monsters that hide in the shadows searching for the light—so with this need to tell stories, she pursued a degree in literature and journalism at Northern Kentucky University. Unfortunately, finding a job writing about the creepy things that filled her brain wasn’t all that easy, so in an effort to keep food in her stomach and a roof over her head, she fell back on her other interest: Wall Street. For more than ten years, Jocelynn was a stock market analyst and financial writer for an investment research firm in Cincinnati, Ohio. While an unexpected combination, it easily fits her personality, giving a nice sense of balance. Now the author of the Dark Days series, she lives in Kentucky.
