Anne George's best-selling Southern Sisters mysteries offer delightful mixtures of offbeat characters, charming humor, and intriguing crimes. In Murder Gets a Life, middle-aged sisters Mary Alice and Patricia Ann are sleuthing their way through a mystery that is hotter than Alabama in August. Mary Alice's son has married Sunshine, a petite blond who is cute as a button. Her family, however, lives in a junk-filled trailer compound dotted with rusty engines and pit bulls. When Mary Alice and Patricia Ann pay a call on the family, the sisters hardly have time to meet Sunshine's spirit-channeling grandmother before they stumble over a large corpse on her floor. The local sheriff just can't seem to get moving in the summer heat. So it's up to the Southern Sisters to discover who the dead man is, and why Sunshine has suddenly disappeared. So grab a glass of sweet tea and get ready to spend a few hours with two of the most resourceful sleuths south of the Mason-Dixon line.

"I'm going to put up this same review for the entire series. Instead of reading this set of books, I listened to the audiobook versions of the entire series. The series is about a couple of sisters that bumble onto murders and wind up solving them. I don't know if it's the books, or the reader that I liked the most. By the time I had finished a couple of the books, I felt like the reader and the characters were old friends. The stories are light, easy to follow, and not terribly complex, but to me, they were thoroughly enjoyable. I only wish Anne George had lived long enough to write a few more."

“This might be my favorite one of the bunch. It is, to put is simply, a hoot.”
— Birmingham News“Those effervescent sisters from Birmingham, big Patricia Anne and little Mary Alice, strike again. While snooping into the backwoods background of Patricia’s son’s intended, they discover a dead body in the family trailer. Great fun!”
— Library Journal“Characters and conversation are the thing here, and the author manages to keep both robustly entertaining. Fresh and funny.”

— Amanda, 2/15/2014" I really like these books for the main characters. And I admire the author's ability to find new characters and settings for the murders. But there is a certain sameness to the resolution of the murder. "

— Glenda, 2/4/2014" Always fun to read a Southern Sisters adventure! "
— Laura, 1/25/2014" These are always a fun read or listen in this case. The sisters stumble (literally) on a body in a trailer of the mother of the new daughter-in-law. The Turkett family is strange to say the least and the more the Sisters get into the murder, the stranger they get. "

— Barbara, 11/12/2013" There's a new wife in the family and she has a very unusual family. And everything is not as it seems. This time the sisters barely hang on by the skin of their teeth. Bora Bora, deep sea diving and Meemaw and PawPaw are all part of the mystery and murder. "
