The first in the Circle Trilogy from the #1 New York Times bestselling author
Standing on the cliffs of 12th century Ireland following the disappearance of his twin, Hoyt Mac Cionaoith is visited by the goddess Morrigan and is charged with the ultimate of tasks: saving his and all future worlds. His enemy, the beautiful but deadly vampire queen Lilith, has had over two thousand years experience in cruelly killing and changing humans into one of her own—including Hoyt’s brother, Cian.
Now, Hoyt, a sorcerer, must travel across the world and through time to find and train the five others Morrigan has prophesized will join him as a circle and do battle against Lilith’s army of vampires on Samhain in the land of Geall. But just who is the witch, the shape-changer, the scholar, the warrior, and the vampire? How will this unlikely band of six prepare and become one with less than three months until the possible end of the world?
Following the arrival of Glenna Ward—a modern day witch with a knack for making her own kind of magic, the kind that makes his heart melt—Hoyt must find the strength to save the world, and a love that knows no bounds.

"I wasn't too sure about this one...was told it might feed my Twilight need now that I'd finished those. Definitely gets off to a bit of a slow (and confusing at times) start but about halfway through, I was definitely committed to seeing how it ends. I decided that the ending had sucked me in sufficiently to where I will not start the second book in the trilogy. Did not enjoy as much as Twilight but it's definitely got a good fantasy element with a more adult storyline (and some saucy, grown-up scenes as well!) Definitely enjoyed it and it's a quick read."

“At long last, the incomparable Roberts leaps into the paranormal genre in a big way! Roberts wastes no time kicking off a trilogy that immediately immerses readers in a complex mythology that will require much dedication and sacrifice from its protagonists. Like her earlier trilogies, intriguing pairs of disparate couples must band together for a common goal. Book one does an excellent job of setting up the seemingly impossible quest and introducing the ‘Circle of Six.’ Once you start, you won’t want to stop this thrill ride.”
— RT Book Reviews (4½ stars, Top Pick!)“This well-plotted, finely detailed paranormal adventure is driven by richly developed characters, making it a cut above others in this subgenre, and among Roberts’s best.”
