Reed Brennan's future is looking as bright as the two-karat diamonds in her new housemates' ears. Being accepted to the most prestigious private boarding school in the country wasn't enough for Reed. She had to break every rule to do it, but she has accomplished the impossible:
Reed is a Billings Girl now.
And with her new status come respect, envy, and, most important, opportunity. Not to mention the parties. Unfortunately, at the next illicit party in the Easton campus woods, her roommate snaps some pictures of Reed in more than one compromising position. She uses the photos to blackmail Reed: Dig up dirt on the most powerful and popular Billings Girls or she will have Reed expelled.
And speaking of parties, the Legacy is coming up. It's the invitation-only Halloween party in New York City, and it's rumored that Thomas—Reed's MIA boyfriend—will be making an appearance there. Too bad Reed isn't even close to invited.
Life as a Billings Girl is every bit as glamorous as Reed imagined. What she didn't bargain for is the tangled web of private lies these girls weave.

"Invitation only is about a girl named Reed that her boyfriend thomas went missing and they were trying to figure out where he went. Reed got into the billings and she knew that the only way that she would be able to see thomas was if she could get into the Legacy which was a big dance in New York. she could only get in if she was a plus-one. walt whittaker was one of the few people that got a plus one, and he really liked her so they went on a date and then he asked her. she felt really bad because she didnt really like him. she ended up going to the Legacy, on the way home she was sitting with Josh Hollis (he was thomas's roomate) they got back to the Billings and there were cops there. they thought that they had got caught because they are not supposed to leave campus so they are not supposed to go to the Legacy. there were a bunch of people outside talking to the cops and there were girls crying also. josh was still with Reed and he went over to see what was happening. he came back with tears running down his face and told Reed that they had found Thomas and he was dead."

The characters are addictive and Campbell's telling makes it even more fun.

— Vic, 4/20/2011" I'm a sucker for bad young adult fiction (as long as it doesn't include vampires/demons/etc). This is basically a not-as-well-written Gossip Girl, set at boarding school with a murder mystery plot - a fun, quick read. "
