Private Berlin takes place two decades after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Chris Schneider works as a detective with the Berlin office of an international detective agency called Private. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles and owned by Jack Morgan.
Schneider grew up in an orphanage and has had haunting questions about his past since childhood. He takes it upon himself to do some investigating on his own and ends up being the subject of a missing person's investigation brought by his ex-fiancé, Mattie Engel, also a detective, and Private Berlin.
After Schneider's body, along with the bodies of many others, is found in a slaughterhouse, whoever committed these murders feels threatened and destroys the slaughterhouse, along with the evidence.
Not to be thrown off the track, Mattie and Private Berlin begin digging into Chris Schneider's back ground to uncover his secrets, only to find that someone is methodically killing Schneider's childhood friends.
Berlin is Europe's most dangerous city, or so they say. James Patterson, one of the best thriller authors out there, has teamed with Mark Sullivan to produce another fast-paced, heart-pumping novel with dynamic characters and a gripping, suspense-filled listening experience.
Mark Sullivan has written over a dozen mystery and suspense novels, including The Fall Line, Hard News, Ghost Dance, The Purification Ceremony, Labyrinth, The Serpent's Kiss and Triple Cross. He has won numerous awards. The Mystery Writers of America has nominated his work for best novel of the year.
Sullivan majored in English at Hamilton College in New York. He has been a volunteer in the Peace Corps in Niger and earned a Master's degree from Northwestern University. He lives with his wife in Montana.
James Patterson has sold more books in recent years than any other author. He currently holds the New York Times record and a Guinness World Record for having the most hardcover fiction bestselling titles by a single author.
He was born in 1947 in Newburgh, New York and attended the Manhattan College. He earned a Master's degree from Vanderbilt University.
"A bit dark as others have described but I felt like this was the Patterson of old. I enjoyed this much more than the past four or five which I feel were rushed for publication. Good to see Patterson back to form. Recommended"
