About the Narrators

She was one of the original cast members in the Tony Award–winning Broadway musical Ain’t Misbehavin’, and in 2009, starred in a one-person performance called The Night Watcher at Primary Stages in New York City. 

Iyanla Vanzant is an accomplished author and speaker. Her book In the Meantime was a #1 New York Times bestseller and went on to spend twenty weeks on the list. The mother of three and grandmother of four, she lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Kim Fields had her first job at age seven on the Mrs. Butterworth syrup commercial. Behind the camera, she directed episodes of Kenan & Kel, Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns and House of Payne, and BET’s Let’s Stay Together. Between gigs her life has included theater, spoken word, music, and speaking engagements. She is a dedicated wife and proud mom of two boys.

Keke Palmer is an Emmy Award–winning actress, singer, songwriter, host, producer, author, and passionate voice of the millennial generation. She rose to prominence at age twelve through her breakout role in Akeelah and the Bee, starring opposite Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne, and has gone on to star in more than twenty-five films and thirty television shows, including Nope and hosted NBC’s reboot of Password with Jimmy Fallon. A. R. Bernard is the spiritual leader of the New York Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn, which, in addition to serving its members, conducts aggressive outreach programs in the community, including several schools for inner-city children, literary groups, and special ministries for the elderly and incarcerated. Bernard serves on the board of directors of the Brooklyn Public Library and the New York City Economic Development Corporation.
