I release you, Lenah Beaudonte.
Believe...and be free.
Those were the last words I could remember. When I awoke, I immediately felt a cold surface on my left cheek. An icy shiver rushed down my spine. "Rhode!" I screamed. He had to be here. There would be no world without Rhode. A door somewhere near me opened and closed. Rhode loomed over me, but he was a blur. Even in the haze of that moment, his icy-blue eyes pierced me, down to my soul.
After centuries of terrorizing Europe, Lenah Beaudonte, with the help of the handsome Rhode, has been able to realize the dream of all vampires—to be human again. Now, as a raven-haired sixteen-year-old, Lenah believes her greatest challenge is fitting in at her new school. But the challenges have only just begun. The vicious coven Lenah once ruled is threatening the new-found pleasures of her human life, including the one guy who makes her feel most alive: Justin. Can this ex-vamp survive in an alien time and place, or will her past come back to haunt her...forever?

"I started off really disliking this book. Vampires, again. And, the characters were not likeable. But then they improved. And the vampire element was different. Don't give up on this one. It's probably more of a 3.5, but it's a great YA read. "

Strong, brave, powerful Lenah sheds the wannabe image, capturing readers instead with her complex yet fascinating history and visceral, at times sensual, narration.
— Kirkus" It was brilliantly written, even with all the twists and turns. I was genuinely hooked until the end. "
— Lydia, 5/22/2011" I wasn't too impressed with the book to begin with, but nothing can hold a candle to Twlight. By the end I really wanted to see what would happen and now I want to continue on in the series. I like it a lot by the end. Good Read. "
— Tammy, 5/12/2011" I enjoyed this book and found it surprisingly engaging and compelling considering that it's not very well written, and the main character is kind of a twat. "
— Amy!, 5/11/2011" A friend won this good in the Goodreads giveaway. She gave it to me to read, and I'm glad she did.

It was a different approach to the teenage vampire book. Vampires were not romantic creatures, but evil ones. I enjoyed it enough that I will probably read the sequel when it comes out. "
— Amber, 5/10/2011" one of my all time favorites. cant wait for the second one! "
— Ashley, 5/2/2011" I am looking forward to the sequel. I want to know more about Rhode. "
