"Never meant to read this book. We got it free at a church meeting and I was intrigued by the title although I judged it as "gimicky." Mark Batterson is the real deal though; he has taken some intriguing risks and profited greatly from these choices. Timing was good on this one, as I am really wrestling with feeling trapped in a "comfortable" life. Hoping/praying this book might be a launching pad for getting outside my comfort zone and running headlong after some of the lions in my life."

" Chapter 1 showed great imagination. Chapter 8 was the best in the book. There are some good quotable moments. But overall it's a skimmer. "
— Sean, 2/17/2014" In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day: How to Survive and Thrive When Opportunity Roars. by Mark Batterson. 192 pages. I liked this book because it's a really great christian based how to book to help us in life. It wasn't cheesy or fake, it applied real life situations and great ways or outlooks on life's many roads. I didn't like how some chapters sort of sounded like past ones you read making it seem like it's just repeated. "
— Ardi, 2/11/2014" Great great book that helped me with facing my fears!!!! Loved it! "
— Alix, 1/31/2014" Re-read in 2008. Awesome book! "
— Rob, 1/23/2014" Good read. I had a mixed feeling about it. Great challenges. I love getting out of your comfort zone and into a place of total trust in God but the cliches of "lion chasers" started to irk me after the first forty pages. I would recommend it to anyone though that is struggling to let go of the safety rope of life. "
— Brett, 1/22/2014" Outstanding!! Really makes you think about your perspective on what life deals you! "
— Pattie, 1/20/2014" Now, don't get me wrong, I think the book has some very valid points to consider. However, there was too much repetition for such a short book. Each chapter, I felt like he was just saying the same thing in a slightly different way. It also might have been the fact that I heard some of his sermons on these topics, so it all felt a little re-hashed to me. I would still recommend it, since it does have a lot to say about facing fears and taking risks (which are both issues I need to deal with personally). "
— Steve, 1/16/2014" I'm really being challenged by this book presently. It is another one of those books the Lord brought into my life and the timing is what makes it such a miracle. Mark will challenge you to step out of the comfort zone. Don't expect to read this one from your lazy-boy comfortably. "
— Randal, 1/16/2014" A book I will read many times -- I underlined nearly half the pages!! "
— Kym, 1/14/2014" This guy is a gifted Christian writer and I love his books! "
— Susan, 12/26/2013" I really liked this book. Easy to read, made some great points, encouraging. "
