Hope Carson may not look like a survivor, but she has escaped an abusive ex-husband and recovered from a vicious assault. Now she endures the painful memories and suspicious rumors surrounding her involvement in the attack. Her ex is a cop, so the last people she trusts are law enforcement officials—and she certainly doesn't trust how the local DA makes her feel inside. Remy Jennings should know better. He has no business falling for a woman who he suspects may have a deeply troubled mind. And even if he did make a move, she'd bolt like a frightened rabbit. But how can he deny a burning desire that threatens to consume him? As Hope's past catches up with her in the worst way, Remy is determined to break through her defenses, earn her trust, and keep her safe in his arms—before it's too late.

"Move over Ezra and Lena and welcome Remy and Hope. Wow! Two great characters from the first book shine in their book. Hope goes from a scared "mouse" to a fighting tigress. Remy walks out of his law office and falls head over heels in love with a woman sitting in a plant. Ezra and Lena make appearances in the book and end the book with their own surprise. I loved Ezra's proposal and the way Lena answered him. I think Ezra and Remy have finally found their home."

The second installment of the Ash trilogy maintains the taut thrill quotient while giving [fans] a beautiful romance at the same time.
— Romantic Times" This book the crazy ex husband was thrown into the mix with the killer so I kept getting confused and the person I assumed was the killer in book 1 wasn't really working out. After I finished I was back to where I was before so this was a nice switch up book I guess you could call it lol. "
— Kelly, 2/14/2014" I couldn't finish this book. As others have said, it just didn't hold my interest. I did not read the first book in the trilogy so maybe that had something to do with my complete lack of connection with the characters. "
— Michele, 2/8/2014" Loved the story. What great characters in Hope and Remy. I loved the change that Hope went through with the help of Remy. Great book highly recommended. "
— Laura, 1/24/2014" Fantastic! Wonderful! I can usually determine who the 'bad guy' is part way through a book, but I'm still stumped. You can feel the love between the characters grow as they encounter murder and threats from an unknown assailant. A great read. "
— Diane, 1/18/2014" Amazing trilogy! I loved Remy and Hope! Awesome chemistry. After reading the first, I couldn't wait for the next. Thank you Shiloh Walker for an amazing read :D "
— Cheryl, 1/15/2014" I can't wait for the final book to see if i'm right about who it is. "
— Charmaine, 1/15/2014" It seems to me that Hope/Remy's story had to be told by Shiloh Walker. I don't think the story would have lacked for any suspense if this book was omitted. But, all in all it was another solid installment of the Ash Trilogy. "
— Leslie, 12/26/2013" Didn't realize I had to read the first book. Hard a hard time following along with this book. I am a huge Shiloh Walker fan but this book didn't do it for me. "
— Christy, 12/23/2013" Nice traumatized heroine, for sure, with a nice protective hero, but something was missing. Also, her best bud's behavior was completely ridiculous. OKish. "
— PNR, 12/10/2013" cant wait for the next one..sighs "
— Amy, 10/12/2013" Awesome plot and gripping suspense. "
