The scream Lena Riddle hears in the woods behind her house is enough to curdle her blood—she has no doubt that a woman is in real danger. Unfortunately, with no physical evidence, the local law officers in small-town Ash, Kentucky, dismiss her claim. But Lena knows what she heard—and it leaves her filled with fear and frustration.
Ezra King is on leave from the state police, but he can't escape the guilty memories that haunt his dreams. When he sees Lena, he is immediately drawn to her. He aches to touch her—to be touched by her—but is he too burdened by his tragic past to get close? When Ezra hears her story of an unknown woman's screams, his instincts tell him that Lena's life is also at risk—and his desire to protect her is as fierce as his need to possess her.

"This book started out slow for me. Normally when I read a romance, all I mainly care about is a good storyline, and most of all, great main characters with a powerful love story. This started out with a good storyline, but I never really got a good feel for Lena and/or Ezra. Their romance definitely took second behind the suspense plot, and I would have liked more emotion, more heat, more substance to their love story. The story did pick up and the "who done it" sure has me on edge. Like other reviewers have said, the book ends with a cliffhanger - Lena and Ezra are together, but the murderer is never caught, which leads right in to the next book. It was good enough to keep me reading the series, but I just wanted MORE."

Walker has crafted a taut, scary trilogy opener, deftly weaving multiple storylines together for a real nail biter.
— Romantic Times" First of the Ash Trilogy. I love mysteries but am terrible at figuring out who is the killer. It is driving me crazy! I hope I can figure it out before the third book in the triolgy ends. "
— Joyce, 2/11/2014" Another good one by Shiloh Walker and an impressive start to the new trilogy. Dark and gritty & sometimes downright scary with a well-balanced blend of romance -- just like I like them! The cast of characters is also well-developed. Looking forward to the next addition to this series. "
— AnneOK, 2/2/2014" If You Hear Her is a book you cannot put down...and then the reader is forced to put the book down when it ends without finishing...Now I must go find the next release date. Good job. "
— Kathleen, 1/25/2014" i love shiloh walker loved this book can't wait to read the next one..... "
— Tammy, 1/16/2014" 3 1/2 stars for me. This was a good romantic suspense, but it ended in a strange place in the book. I know that it was a trilogy, but I don't even feel that we ended up with a HEA for sure for our h/h. I am looking foward to Hope and Reilly's book. "
— Keri, 1/11/2014" I really enjoyed this... great cliffhanger, must read the If You See Her now to pick up where this one left off. "
— Robin, 12/10/2013" Really liked this one. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I think it is If You See Her. "
— dragonsdy, 12/6/2013" Review to follow but need the next book NOW. "
— Pamela, 10/12/2013" I loved this book! I found it hard to put down after the first page. I figured being a romance thriller the focus would be on the romance leaving the story line in the dust but I was wrong. The story was captivating, the characters were likable and I can't wait to read the next book in the series!! "
— Tomm, 8/26/2013" <3<3 Can't wait to start the next one!! "
— Nicole, 6/27/2013" This was awesome. Very endearing characters. Well written. "
