From the New York Times bestselling author Joseph Finder comes a fast-paced legal thriller, High Crimes Meet Claire Heller Chapman. A criminal defense attorney who's made a name for herself by taking on—and winning—the toughest cases, Claire still manages to have a relatively calm life as a Harvard Law School professor, devoted wife, and proud mother to six-year-old Annie. Until one night, when the family is out having dinner, a team of government agents bursts onto the scene…heading straight for Claire's husband. Tom Chapman has been arrested for an atrocious crime he swears he did not commit. Claire is desperate to believe him—and prove his innocence—even when she learns that Tom once had a different name. And a different face. Now, in a top-secret court-martial conducted by the Pentagon, Claire will put everything on the line to defend the man she loves. But as the evidence keeps piling up, the less she knows who her husband really is…and the more he appears to be a cold-blooded murderer...

"I watched the movie, High Crimes years ago, before I became a Joseph Finder fan. The book, as with all of Joseph Finder's books, was interesting and suspenseful. Though dry in spots with some of the testimony, I still felt drawn to keep reading. I had forgotten the twist at the end and am looking forward to renting and re-watching the movie. Am having a hard time waiting for Buried Secrets, the second to Finder's amazing Vanished."

— Providence Journal on VanishedIf Jack Reacher met Nick Heller in a dark alley, my money's on Reacher. But it would be ugly. Or would it? Actually, I think they'd go for a beer together and set the world to rights--because Joseph Finder has given me a terrific new hero to root for. This is an action-packed, full-throttle, buy-it-today-read-it-tonight series that you definitely shouldn't miss.

— Shots magazine on Vanished" + movie -- I like the author's real time conversations and the unusaul topics. Movie was too slow "
— Irene, 2/7/2014" Amazing/Thrilling and quite an interesting book. Enjoyed the Court Room Drama. "
— Umair, 2/6/2014" I actually really enjoyed this story. I just did not like the end. I want a happy ending and this did not give that. Great writing and storyline, but with that ending I really struggle to give it the 4 stars. "
— Scott, 2/4/2014" search for him in the movie. "
— Deb, 1/27/2014" Brilliant:) Now I have to watch the movie again to see how it compares to the book;) "
— Christel, 1/14/2014" Excellent. One of Finder's best, second only to Paranoia. Thanks to unusual inclement weather Saturday last week, I zipped through about 2/3 of it in one day, riveted the whole time. "
— John, 12/22/2013" Kept my interest through out the book and I did enjoy it. I like these type of books generally, good twist right at the end. I would recommend reading it for a light quick read. "
— Lori, 12/18/2013" I listened to the Abridged version. I think it would have been better if I had the whole book. Good Story line though. "
— Thomas, 12/16/2013" this is a mystery and i enjoy this author!! it has lots of twists and turns with a suprise ending... i recomend this book the characters are good and it holds or should hod your interest "
— Peter, 10/24/2013" First time reader of this author's books and it was a good one. Kept the suspense till the very end. Gives a little bit of insight into the world of military justice mixed with the murky world of politics in the US (although largely fiction, of course; or is it?). "
— Sanjay, 10/8/2013" Dreadful book, the characters were weak, the story was painful and unoriginal. "
— Chelsea, 10/4/2013" A very entertaining book based upon both military hijinks and a trial. The plot keeps you guessing as to the guilt or innocence of the husband with a twist on the ending. "

— Ropajo, 9/26/2013" A nice story with some good twists but it ended a bit flat. "

— Les, 6/14/2013" A routine book with some good parts. My first book by this author. Maybe 3.5 stars for the good parts, which were mainly court room scenes. The plot was far fetched as many are, but it moved along at reasonable speed. "
— Derk, 6/1/2013" OK, that was just stupid. Plot was inane. "
— Carol, 2/28/2013" If you like courtroom drama, you'll like this one. This book centers in a military courts-martial which perhaps enhances the story over a civilian case. Finder's stuff is good! "
— Pat, 1/26/2013" Didn't finish it .... I have NO interest in reading a book portraying soldiers as slaughterers of women, children, and elderly. "
— Laura, 3/31/2012" This book was an easy, quick read. It can easily be read in 1 day. I would recommend as a traveling book because it has short chapters,a easy plot, and just a few main characters and settings. The ending was a total disappointment, but once you read it; you'll see what I mean. "
— Imani, 3/28/2012" Decent plot but quite predictable - particularly the ending "
— Jane, 3/5/2012" Second boook I have read by this author (Paranoia was the first). This one was a good fiction thriller. "
— Cindy, 1/6/2012" This book was ok. I enjoyed the fine lens Finder directs towards military law. However, I found some parts of this book to be tiresome, and frankly a little redundant "
— Neisha, 11/1/2011" Really interesting legal mystery - a civilian woman defense lawyer against an Army legal team. Learned lots about how Army rules are very different from "regular" people. Great surprise ending. "

— Chelsea, 4/4/2011" Meh . . . Predictable crime drama. And not a particularly entertaining one at that. "
— Wendy, 4/3/2011" Excellent. One of Finder's best, second only to Paranoia. Thanks to unusual inclement weather Saturday last week, I zipped through about 2/3 of it in one day, riveted the whole time. "
— John, 3/26/2011" Second boook I have read by this author (Paranoia was the first). This one was a good fiction thriller. "
— Cindy, 3/12/2011" The ending seemed to happen too fast and didn't fit well with the rest of the book.

"
— Tim, 1/27/2011" Good - didn't realize it was written in the late 90s. Didn't care for any of the characters. "
— Ruth, 11/23/2010" This book was an easy, quick read. It can easily be read in 1 day. I would recommend as a traveling book because it has short chapters,a easy plot, and just a few main characters and settings. The ending was a total disappointment, but once you read it; you'll see what I mean. "
— Imani, 7/20/2010" A high profile Boston attorney's husband is arrested and accused of
a Mei Lai type massacre in El Salvador while he was int the army.
Good story. I still don't particularly like Finder's writing style.
"
— Chuck, 5/7/2010" This was made into an excellent movie with Morgan Freeman. "
— Steven, 3/2/2010" I knew what would happen at the end about halfway through the book -- and some of the legal talk was pretty boring. "
