On its surface, Bruner is no different from any other peaceful town in rural northern Wisconsin, but all is not what it seems. In the days and hours before an ominous approaching snowstorm, local sheriff Paul Summers struggles to cope with a strange series of events, including the arrival of a mysterious group of criminals, the suspicious disappearance of a fellow townsperson, and rumors of evil cult activity, not to mention difficulties at home.

As the storm gathers in intensity, so do the twists and turns that bring Paul ever closer to unraveling the big secrets that haunt this small town. In a stunning conclusion, Paul witnesses firsthand the startling power and beauty of heaven's fury.

" Liked his financial books better. The main character didn't attract my interest and suspension of dis-believe was difficult about both the cult and the relationships. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Kay | 11/25/2013

" This is a departure from Frey's usual novel about murder, mystery and mayhem in the financial world. It was okay but I didn't care for the main character. I would have rated it lower but I really did like the last part of the book. "

" Interesting mystery story but not sure I liked the main character, nor the way any of the women in the book are portrayed... "

" Great book by Frey! This story has all the ingredients of a master thriller: plot, well-developed and likable characters, murder, betrayal and redemption. I couldn't put it down. =) "
