In this provocative and eye-opening classic of investigative journalism, the #1 New York Times bestselling author and “America’s best true-crime writer” (Kirkus Reviews), Ann Rule, explores the nearly twenty-year long search for America’s most prolific and horrifying serial killer.
In 1982, the body of Wendy Coffield is discovered floating near the sandy shore of Washington’s Green River. Authorities have no idea that this tragic and violent death is only the beginning of a string of murders that will rock and terrify the Seattle area for two decades.
With her signature riveting prose and in-depth research, Ann Rule takes us behind the scenes of the search for the Green River Killer, a terrifying specter who ritualistically killed young women and eluded authorities for years. From seeking the help of incarcerated serial killer Ted Bundy to Ann Rule’s horrifying realization that the killer she was writing about had attended her book signings, Green River, Running Red is the suspenseful and unforgettable “definitive narrative of the brutal and senseless crimes that haunted the Seattle area for decades” (Publishers Weekly).

"This book took me a while to read. It's pretty long, but it's very intense so I found myself only able to read a short amount at a time. The book is very detailed (and sometimes graphic) and takes you from start to finish. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes true crime or crime fiction reading."

— Ariana, 2/18/2014" I am a huge Ann Rule fan and found this book hard to put down. "
— Jeannie, 2/16/2014" Gripping from start to finish; well, if you like serial killer books. The truth in near catches and so much more make the reader feel the frustration and the eventual relief when GRK was caught. "
— Claudia, 2/10/2014" Another shocking reveal of our cruel inner-self "
— G, 2/8/2014" I lived in Seattle during the time of the GRK's most active phase and was thrilled when I saw that Anne Rule had written her account. I knew the research and insight would be fabulous. She did not disappoint (she does disappoint me on the short stories/anthogies. I just don't read them anymore). "
— Beth, 2/3/2014" The green river killer was so awful - he's not worth a book about him and this one gets a little tedious after a while. "
— Cheryl, 1/25/2014" Very interesting, especially since I live in the NW. Rule gave alot of attention to the victims, she went into alot of detail about their lives and families. This was my first "True Crime" book, it was good but I like fiction better! "
— Marcy, 1/21/2014" A very well written true crime book written about a horrible man. "
— Laurie, 1/20/2014" As far as true crime goes, this was one of my faves! It was really the only book of it's kind that made me afraid at night. That's a good thing for me, but may not be for others. Definately not for the faint of heart, but if you like true crime this is a great one! "
— Leslie, 1/12/2014" Horribly gruesome. I read it in two days! "
