"I like most of Julie Garwood's historical books and I especially like those narrated by Anne Flosnik. I liked the fact that the heroine was dead set on revenging the death of her family and the hero was busy though out the book trying to get her to let him get to the bottom of the conspiracy. It was really sad that the brother in law that she wanted to go to for help was the one who was actually responsible for the killing of nearly her entire family, including his own wife. I loved the grandfather and how he encouraged her free spirit without encouraging a rebellious spirit against her husband. A lot of Julie Garwood's characters seem so close but I am still addicted to historical romances and Flosnik keeps me listening."

" I read this book years ago, but it shows how well her books stand up to the test of time, especially her medieval novels. This was a very sweet story and I really liked the characters, many of which appear in other novels by this author. "
— Cathie, 2/20/2014" 3 1/2 stars for this one. I enjoyed it a lot, but you can tell this was a very early work by Garwood. The premise was fantastic, but I found the story was a bit choppy in places. Any book by this author though, is a keeper. "
— LibraryLass, 2/18/2014" Love her stories, though true love to me is more than just "unbridled passions". If I can't love a guy without intimacy then whats the point? But still, this was a very good book. I think I love this book because that is exactly the kind of guy I want. Rough and tough on the outside, but soft and tender in the inside, just for me :) "
— Athena, 2/11/2014" This book was OK. It definitely wasn't my favorite Garwood book. It was still well written, but placed back towards the end of the 900's. Yeah, WAY back there. So, the whole mentality of the wife being the man's property and knowing her place and all that was historically accurate, but still kind of annoying. The Heroine is really easy to like, though the husband takes a while to warm up to. A good premise, and plenty of love scenes, but I just feel that it was lacking what a lot of her other books have. "
— ErinReadsTooMuch, 2/6/2014" Doing a reread by audio. Although I love Anne Flosnik narrating Mary Balogh's books, she's too melodramatic to suit well with Garwood. "
— KarenH, 1/28/2014" Such a great book!!! You've done it again Julie Garwood "
— Nafeesah, 1/22/2014" I felt the story lacked a strong plot. I liked some of Garwood's other Laird novels better. "
— Michelle, 1/15/2014" I did like this book, I just didn't love it. The hero was just a little bit lacking in my opinion. The bond between the hero and heroine just didn't pull me in. It was still a good read, just not one of Garwood's best. "
— Gardavson, 1/4/2014" There were many surprises in this romance by Garwood. "
— West, 1/1/2014" POV was all over the place in this story, but it was still entertaining. I particularly liked the ending. "

— Dawn, 10/19/2013" I had every intention of starting my hope diamond book... and then was sidetracked by a historical romance. foiled again by my great love of romance novels! This one did not disapoint, read it one sitting. "
— Renee, 9/21/2013" Ranks up there with my other 2 favorite Julie Garwood story's, The Bride and Ransom. Great chemistry between H & h, opposites attract story and he was definitely not a Gentle Warrior, but she taught him to be. Loved it! "
