" REally loved this! I'm a huge Sanderson fan! You could tell however that this was his first book, as the characters aren't quite as developed as they are in his later books, but the cebtral premise of the story was fascinating, and hos two main characterss at least were well rounded. My only complaint - and it is a little one - is that not all the losses ends were nicely tied up. I'm not sure if this is because he planned a sequel, or if it was just the inexperience of e new writer? Would LOVE there to be a sequel, Brandon Sanderson ROCKS!!!! "

" Very enjoyable. Loved the parts involving Raoden and Elantris. Sarene was annoying at times but interesting too. Hrathen's character was very well developed. The political and religious machinations got somewhat tedious at times but they helped to create a realistic atmosphere. The idea of the Shaod and AonDor was very original and compelling. "

" Not as good as Mistborn or Way of Kings. Decent in-between book. "

" I absolutely loved this book! It is a page turner where you can't put it down. There isn't a boring part to this book. All of the main characters are strong and well liked. I highly recommend this book to any and all fantasy lovers! "

" Though it dragged a little here and there early on, the ending was fantastic even if somewhat predictable and the author did a great job of weaving even small details together to play a part in the ending. "

" Brandon Sanderson's debut novel and a stunning one at that. His world is creatively built and incredibly solid as well as totally immersive. His charcters have depth and are endearing. Sanderson speciallizes in the social aspects of his character and is able to make his relationships profound and real. You'll learn to love the characters and find yourself intrigued with the characters as they unlock the mysteries and face the challenges of their world. This is a novel you don't want to miss! "

" I liked this book a lot. I think it suffers from the same problem many Brandon Sanderson books have: the ending comes too fast... Otherwise, it was a very good read, a book that you have difficulties to put down. "

" This book is awesome. Clever, likable characters, and not action packed (as in stupid spells being yelled out every five seconds) like a lot fantasy generally is. Could be considered boring but I think its genius. "

" Great book, great characters and character profiles and the magic system is very good, Sanderson is very good at magic systems. Good story although quite predictable in some parts. "

" I was impressed by the book. I expected it to be too deep in politics and hard to keep up with, but was pleasantly surprised by the ease of reading and understanding. He's a very good storyteller, and pulls you in very well. I enjoyed reading this book. "

" Fantasy. The religious aspects are insulting to anyone of faith. But that should be expected from a mind clearly not Christian. The story was fine, the action prosaic. Not the finest book I've ever read, by a long shot, but it got me through my cold. "

" It grabbed my attention from page one and kept it all the way through. I did feel the end was a little rushed, but it was kind of refreshing after reading so many fantasy novels that just drag on through several volumes! Definitely worth reading! "

" He has quickly become one of my favorite authors, He is a master of creating new and unique magic systems as well as intricate and well organized stories and characters. A wonderful first publish for him, and I am looking forward to the release of a sequel after he finishes the stormlight archive. "

" This was a pretty cool book. The magic is different again which is cool. Felt sometimes he dragged the story a bit. But it was good in the end. "

" I tried. I just couldn't get into this one. LOVED the idea of immortality gone horribly wrong, but the rest just didn't seem to weave in as well as I'd hoped. :( Oh well. "

" Better than average fantasy. A unique magic system and a lot of political/economic musing.

" Sanderson's debut novel was nearly as good as the Mistborn trilogy, but not quite. The magical world he created was fantastic. My main problem with this book was that all the names/religions/places were confusing. And I didn't really bother to remember some of the minor characters.
