"The Harper Hall trilogy is probably the best set of books in the Pern series. Menolly and Piemer are two of my favorite characters especially with Masterharper Robinet. I really enjoy how this book and the others don't focus as much on the dragons, but on other characters on Pern. "
— Angie (4 out of 5 stars)
" I enjoyed it more than dragonsong. 3.5 stars "
— Samantha, 2/11/2014" This one's a staple in my library. I usually read it once every couple of months. "
— Arlith, 2/9/2014" Dragonsinger is even better than Dragonsong, the first book of its series. I couldn't stop myself from reading this book over and over again.Don't even remember how many times it's been that I wish this book will be made into a movie. "
— Jie, 2/7/2014" Very enjoyable tale. I really like how this character developed. Glad I read on because I was bored of the first two Pern books. "
— Nai, 2/1/2014" Again, another adventure with Menolly. A continuation from the first of the 3 Harper Hall books. So I rate this one with the first one. I loved it. "
— Jeanne, 1/21/2014" This one is a fun sequel. The whole book is just her first week at the Harper Hall. "
— Lydia, 1/19/2014" Loved these as a kid. "
— Tara, 1/19/2014" Though I love to read anything by Anne McCaffrey the series about Menolly is a personal favorite! "
— Michelle, 1/8/2014" I like Menolly a lot. She triumphs over adversity to make a place for herself at the Harper Hall. "
— Bryan457, 12/13/2013" This book was disappointing. It is clearly intended for a young audience, and maybe for them it works out, but I found it too trite. The main character honestly needed to be more flawed. "
— Nicholas, 12/9/2013" A beloved book of my adolescence. I read it at a very difficult time in my life during which I was moving to a new place with frightening new circumstances, which is exactly what happened to the main character of this book. A very timely read for a seventh grader! "
— Jerry, 12/2/2013" This may be the first time I've read this particular triology since I was a teenager. The author's recent death has me going back and rereading many books. "
— g-na, 9/11/2013" This book was a fun diversion. Not too deep, but it kept me up reading late into the night. "
— Betsy, 7/12/2013" I enjoyed watching Menolly become more sure of herself. I loved these books when I was young. I still do. "
— Macjest, 5/9/2013" I liked the first book in this trilogy better but this is still a great read! The only thing that bothered me was Menolly's tendency to feel sorry for herself and underestimate herself no matter how many people complimented her. The end made me happy though. "
— Vanessa, 4/7/2013" I have read almost all of the Pern books and they are all very good. "
— Ylrac, 3/16/2013" this is just as good as the first book!! Maybe just an isty bitsy better. Its still about the same girl however shes in harper hall now. Dont worry its not boring at all!! "
— Sarah, 12/18/2012" The second of my series within a series of Pern with Menolly adjusting to a new life. "
— 2bnallegory, 1/16/2012" The Harper Hall trilogy is the younger version of the Dragonrider series. Even so, it was quite enjoyable when I read it during Junior High. To this day I still want a firelizard. "
— Alicia, 10/17/2011" Not as good as the first one but enjoyable none the less. I'd recommend it to those who LOVED the first in the series. "

— Vanessa, 2/15/2011" I can't remember what happened and I just read it a month ago. Sorta boring.. for me. My DD14 loved it when she read it a year or so ago.. this is one of her favorite authors! "
— travelmel, 1/24/2011" If you love dragon books and great characters McCaffrey is your author. These books in my opinion are for adults. The dragons and humans have unmoral lives. "
— Melissa, 1/15/2011" Awesome! Another one of my favorite books! "
— Victoria, 1/9/2011" It's a while since I read this but remember enjoying it immensely. The world that Anne Mccaffrey brought into being with this series was well realised. "
