National Bestselling Author and winner of multiple Agatha, Anthony, and Macavity Awards, Carolyn Hart continues to dazzle mystery fans with an all new Dead on Demand Mystery.
Winter has arrived in Broward's Rock, South Carolina, and business has slowed for Annie Darling, owner of mystery bookstore Death on Demand. So when the island's resident writer publishes the latest in her popular mystery series, Annie jumps at the chance to host a book signing, even though it conflicts with her shift at the local charity shop, Better Tomorrow.
Luckily, fellow volunteer Gretchen Burkholt agrees to sub for her. The signing goes well, but Gretchen interrupts the event multiple times, leaving voice mails about scandalous news she's dying to share. Even though Gretchen tends to be excitable, Annie heads over to Better Tomorrow, where she finds Gretchen dead on the floor, an axe by her side.
Annie enlists the help of her husband, Max, to piece together a puzzle involving an overturned kayak, a stolen motorboat, a troubled love affair, and a reckless teenager. And she must tread carefully in her investigation, because a killer is on the loose, and that killer works well in the foggy days of winter...

"Love the Death on Demand series and I haven't read one in in long time so it was nice to get a fix! Desperation and greed are not traits anyone should foster they get you into trouble every time. It always makes me wonder how many people I've known who have committed crimes and get away (at least for a time with them and act and seem so normal on the outside???"

" Sometimes it's good to know what you're going to get. "
— Eli, 2/17/2014" If you want a well-written cozy, you can always count on the Annie & Max series b Carolyn Hart. This volume is no exception. The characters are well-done and the plot line littered with good clues and red herrings. Keeps the reader guessing the whole way. "
— Kimberly, 2/16/2014" Another great mystery. I love that the main charcter is a mystrery book store owner. "
— Mary, 2/14/2014" thought this was a good addition to the series. Didn't figure it out. Loved the ending! Sometimes Annie and Max are a bit much with their lovey-dovey stuff but it didn't annoy me this time. "
— Joanne, 2/10/2014" As a long time reader of this series, Death Comes Silently was like a visit with old friends. Carolyn Hard has managed to write another strong book in a rather long series - not something a lot of authors can do without the books starting to feel stale and repetitious. I thought the plot was fresh and the red herrings excellent. Each of the main characters were true to their histories and as likeable as they've ever been (or not, as the case may be). I do find a couple of recurring characters just too stupid and overblown to be even remotely believable, but these characters don't get much page time, thank goodness. An excellent read for those that like their cozies with a bit more depth and maturity. "
— â‚, 1/30/2014" Just a great deal of fun! I love this series for pure relaxation and escape. "
— Chris, 1/26/2014" I continue to read all new titles in this series and I do wonder why. The characters irritate me (they don't seem to develop from book to book) and the name-dropping of other mystery novels seems contrived (it once seemed endearing). This may be the last one I read. "
— Erica, 1/23/2014" Whew, a cpl books ago I thought the time had come for Annie & Max to end, how much more?? This book put Carolyn Hart back at the top! "
— Laura, 1/3/2014" Another series I always enjoy "
— JoAnn, 12/23/2013" Good fast read. Gets you involved quickly. Pretty good. "
— Marilyn, 12/20/2013" Again I am in South Carolina with the umpteenth book in a series about a mystery book store owner who frequently finds herself needing to solve a murder. In this case, there were several, and I did not even come close to figuring out who was responsible. "
— Kathleen, 12/16/2013" I really enjoyed this book - had no idea who it was at the end. Great series! "
— Amy, 11/20/2013" I love the liveliness of the characters in these books. Hart always tells a lively story with enough development and problem solving to make it an interesting mystery without going overboard. "
— Molly, 10/27/2013" This is good who done it book. I read one in this series many years ago. The characters have moved on in their lives since the previous book I read. I'll have to do some catch up. Books are lite but enteraining. I will read more. "
— Mary, 10/16/2013" How many cashmere sweaters and sunflowers must we have in one book? I guess I don't care for cozy mysteries. It was all I could do to get to the end of this. "
— Judy, 7/9/2013" not fond of that type of beginning - jumping from character to character to character to character - but it did get better. "
— Elaine, 6/26/2013" These are always fun. "
— Liz, 6/20/2013" I enjoyed this. Sometimes all the jumping around from person to person annoys me but in this story it worked. I really enjoyed it as they split up the "interviewee" list and began looking for clues. Wonderful ending! "
— Trisha, 2/22/2013" I love the Max and Annie Darling Death on Demand series and this entry into the series is at the high Carolyn Hart standard of writing. As usual, wonderful, likeable characters (except for maybe Emma!)an intriguing story and a fun read. "
— Jeanine, 1/22/2013" This is a solid entry in the 'Death on Demand' mystery bookstore series featuring Annie Darling. This book is well-paced and a good read. "
— Nancy, 11/14/2012" Cozy murder mysteries set out of a bookstore "Death On Demand." "
— Vicky, 10/24/2012" True to form no surprises "
— Connie, 8/13/2012" This series of books is good if you are in the mood for a cozy mystery. "
— Trish, 8/10/2012" So weird to see all the pop culture references; facebook, tablet, iPhones. This series had a very '90s feel to it in the beginning and I kinda miss that. "
— Leah, 7/28/2012" Annie and Max Darling series just keeps getting better. The Darlings fit together so well and all of their friends are people you would love to meet and discuss books with. OK, maybe Laurel (Max's Mom) is a little out there, but she means well and would do anything for anyone. Can't wait for #23. "
— Judy, 7/8/2012" Love Carolyn Hart mysteries.I love that she gives recognition to other mystery writers through her character Annie Darling who owns a mystery book store. Gives ideas for other mysteries to read. "
