Publisher Description

We're the D'Artigo sisters: sexy, savvy ex-operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. But being half-human, half-Fae means our powers go haywire at all the wrong times. My sister Delilah is a Death Maiden and werecat who belongs to the Autumn Lord. My sister Menolly is a vampire who's dating a gorgeous werepuma, and the godfather of the undead-set. And me? I'm Camille, Priestess of the Moon Mother, married to a dragon, a youkai, and a Svartan. But my dragon father-in-law has decided that he doesn't like having me for a member of the family...

It's Winter Solstice, and Aeval welcomes me into her Court of Darkness. With Morio still dangerously weak from his injuries and Vanzir alive only thanks to my silence, the thought of training under Morgaine doesn't seem as daunting as it did. But then, Hyto returns to shatter my life. Captured and swept off to the Dragon Reaches, can I manage to stay alive long enough to escape, even as Smoky's father intends to break my spirit, then my body?

"I love the D'Artigo sisters and their circle of family and friends, so naturally I am keen to get my hands on new books in the series as soon as they are released. That's why yesterday was just me, my couch and Courting Darkness! Fans of the series know that each book is told from one of the sister's POV in order of age, so Camille, Delilah and then Menolly. In Courting Darkness it's Camille turn again and boy does she have a story to tell! Chase goes missing and if that isn't enough to deal with Smoky's evil father comes to Seattle determined to deal with Camille and Smoky once and for all. Courting Darkness offers lots of action, but we also learn a lot more about Smoky and his family. I really loved visiting the DragonReaches with Smoky and Camille. In short, Courting Darkness is another wonderful book by Yasmine Galenorn!"

Quotes

  • “Galenorn never shies away from forcing her protagonists into dealing with devastating emotional or physical blows in her Otherworld series, but this novel really tests Camille D’Artigo’s limits. Dire events are in the offing and this story is jam-packed with edgy thrills and horrifying danger. It is tough to keep up the intensity level in a long-running series; Galenorn has no such problem, as this terrific tale aptly demonstrates!”

" This book made me cry. Horrible, horrible things happen...which are sad. However, I loved the Dragon Reaches. Annoying questions pop up with no answers at all like: How did Chase do what he did? What happened with Vanzir and the Triple Threat? Why is she doing this stupid subplot with Morio and Menolly? Ugh-no answers at all. "

" While I feel that Galenorn's writing and storytelling has improved over the course of this book series, I can't help but be a little disappointed in this book. There is just too much going on. The original jist of these books was that the girls were tying to find all of the spirit seals to prevent all hell breaking loose and the first few (5?) books had them on that track. I can't remember the last one that followed that plot line. I suppose character development and additional stories are important but can we finish one thing before we start another? I'll continue to read the series since I've come this far but I'd like to see the storyline get back to basics. "

" As always, a great book from Yasmine. This one was hard to read though - juts because of the situation that Camille is in. I loved how she tied in some of the characters that were introduced in her novella "Ice Shards" - which takes us deeper into Iris' background. "

" This is the 10th book in the Otherworld series and I've enjoyed them all. This one focuses on Camille D'Artigo. Much darker than previous Camille story-lines. Continues the story arc of a pending war against the demons. Next from the must read pile - book 11 - Shaded Vision! "
