Publisher Description

A music therapist who thrives on helping others, Kendra Michaels cherishes the ordinary life she has achieved after stem cell surgery restored her sight. The skills she perfected during those sightless years—the ability to pick up the most subtle audio, olfactory, and tactile cues in the world around her—coupled with her laser-sharp mind have made her a uniquely potent observer and problem solver. Kendra’s uncanny way of connecting the dots is as baffling to law enforcement as it is legendary.

When former agent Adam Lynch, known as the Puppetmaster, approaches her about a possible serial murder case, she is determined to steer clear. But he’s a notorious manipulator, skilled at handling criminals and colleagues alike to get the results he wants. And now he holds a trump card: The latest possible victim is Kendra’s ex-lover, an FBI agent who vanished without enough clues to follow—unless Kendra can pick up the trail. And if she can’t, she just might close her eyes again...forever.

" Didn't hate it, but totally couldn't get into it. The main character isn't only unbelievable, but very grating and unlikable. That's frustrating. "

" Liked it. Quick read over holiday break. Keep looking for another Girl with Dragon Tattoo - falls short of that, but still a good intriguing read. "

" Big fan of Johansen and the Eve Duncan series but can see where the story line has begun to run its course. This first novel about Kendra and Lynch was relatively good albeit rather predictable. The storyline was a bit slow for me at points but it may be because the character development wasn't thorough enough and I didn't really feel very attached to any character straight away. I am looking forward to a second book by the mother and son duo to see if the second book provides a tad more development and character development. I understand there was a Novella put out either alongside thus book or shortly before which may have given more story on the two main characters, including the reasons causing kendras tumultuous relationship with the Bureau but I could not find it and did not read it. " This was my first time reading this author. This certain book kept me intriqued the whole way thru. It was a page turner and it usually takes me awhile to read a whole book. I read this within a month. I'm hoping the character Kendra will appear in a sequel or series in the future. "
