Lots of women put their careers aside once the kids come along. Kate Connor, for instance, hasn’t hunted a demon in ages. That must be why she missed the one wandering through the San Diablo Walmart. Listener Opinions

" This was a good book. Funny story line, easy to read. Not the most stunning writing style ever, but I'll likely pick up the next book in the series when I run out of other things to read. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I were able to do so. "

" I enjoyed the plot & liked the characters. There were a few problems with the book, but there were some clever twists as well. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Mel | 2/9/2014

" Quick and funny book. I liked Kate :) I also found this book original. Never read anything like this before. I mean; a demonhunting mom? "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Jamie Fahlgren | 2/4/2014

" Another abandoned book. By the end of the first chapter, I knew this book wasn't for me. The line that really sealed the deal was when the narrator stated she wasn't worrying about her two year old son being gay because he liked watching Australian men dance. Thank you for sharing what you are not doing. Also, for perpetuating stereotypes. Plus there was incessant brand dropping to make the plot seem relevant, but really just made everything dated. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Kelly | 1/23/2014

" Finally got around to reading this series. If I didn't have the next three books on my tbr shelf, I wouldn't have bothered picking them up. It was very repetitive, whingy and rather annoying at times. But I like the idea behind it, a little bit of mystery. Though to be honest, I guessed from the start who it was. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Bridget Pekah | 1/18/2014

" this book was cute and an easy read. Funny to read about a Mom that is hunting demons while taking care of her little boy and teenage daughter! "

" I'm not much of a demon-reader, but, on the recommendation of a friend, I picked up the first in this series. Great balance of humor and drama. Kate Connor is a soccer-mom force to be reckoned with! "

" Listened to this book well over a year ago, I think. It was an entertaining story and I like the characters this author created. I enjoyed the 2nd book better though. And I look forward to listening to the next installment in the series. "

" What if a demon slayer settled down to a life as a Soccer Mom, but then a dozen years later the demons start coming back? This book is cotton-candy, very light and Buffy, er, I mean fluffy, with no surprises in plot or tone. If you are in the mood for cotton-candy, I recommend it. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Carlene | 10/27/2013

" Demon-Hunter-turned-stay-at-home-mom must pull her skills out of the attic when the Undead invade her sleepy suburban town of San Diablo. A quick, fun, read that probably deserves 3.5 stars instead of four, but I really enjoyed it. Quirky and enteretaining. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Heather | 8/4/2013

" I have been waiting for years for this book cause I could never win it in swaps and I finally found a copy this year at a book sale and it was ok. Sure, there were some LOL moments but all in all, I was not too impressed. This is one series that I will not finish. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Betsy | 3/11/2013

" Alright book. Not too good, not that bad. A new-ish concept but a little repetitive in the writing. Some of the plot is good. "

" This was a funny easy ready with a cute plot and characters - entertaining. There is some minor language in the book. A good summertime on the beach kind of read. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Andrea | 9/30/2011

" I'll try the second one but there were parts that seemed to get bogged down with details of her everyday life. I like the premise but I think Kenner needs to tighten up the plot more to keep my interest. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Michele | 9/24/2010

" I don't like any other books with a fantasy element, not vampires, werewolves or any of that genre that are currently very popular, but for some reason I love the demon hunter series by Julie Kenner. This one again was hard to put down and very satisfying. "

" The cover caught my eye in the library and the praise listed on the back. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be. It was okay, but some things were off... I didn't like how powerful the demons were, and the way they took away freedom of will. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Angela | 8/15/2010

" The series seems to be spinning a little out of control--pretty soon they will have revealed the secret to everyone in town! I wish the reincarnated ex-husband would just die---that drama doesn't do it for me. I'll try one more of these to see if things get back on track. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jennifer | 7/30/2010

" This series used to just annoy, but now I think it's really found it's stride. I thought the ending was going to go to a bad place, but so far it hasn't. Really interested to see where the next one goes...it looks like we're headed to Rome! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Dee | 7/4/2010

    Darker demon foes.
    Angsty fight for family.
    Husband always caves. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Lori | 5/15/2010

" This one was more serious than the other books, but I still really enjoyed it. I can't wait to see what happens in Rome, or when they come back from Rome. "
