Strong and beautiful centaur Huntress Brighid struggled for years under her family’s restrictive ideals and the oppressive, tyrannical rule of her mother, the clan’s High Shaman. Choosing to blaze her own path in life instead of follow her kinfolk, Brighid leaves the Centaur Plains and finds a new home and a loving family among the walls of MacCallan Castle.
But as Brighid sets out on a journey to guide the grief-stricken warrior Cuchulainn back home from the Wastelands, she realizes her former life isn’t so easily left behind. As the magic within her stirs and the call of the Otherworld urges her to heal the handsome warrior, Brighid must learn to accept the powerful gifts that the great Goddess Epona has given her—and the forbidden love that begins to grow for Cuchulainn.

"I liked this better than Elphame's Choice. Even though I did end up liking Elphame's choice in the end. In this book I thought the character of Brighid was more real and I really liked how she developed throughout the novel. I also liked that both Brighid and Cu had big issues to overcome. In many ways this book wraps up the stories of the new Formorians reintegration into the world. But of course, it leaves the door open for other books too. The only reason I'm not giving this a 5 star is because, like Elphame's Choice, it relied heavily on emotion (which was great) but I also wanted more action or tension built in beyond the primary relationship. I'd still recommend it though--particularly to the YA set."

“Smart, sassy, and seductive.”
— C. C. Hunter, New York Times bestselling author, on Loved by P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast" I have to say this was one of the best in the series...the end left you hanging and wanting more, can't wait for another one! "
— Patti, 2/8/2014" Second in the Partholon series. I didn't like it as much as the first, but still pretty good. "
— Becca, 2/7/2014" One of the best young adult books i've read. "
— ♥ViScoUS, 1/29/2014" A really good read, although I liked the prequel Elphames Choice better. "
— Anna, 1/19/2014" I didn't like this book to begin with, and it was slow at first, but then towards the end it got better although then it got worse because Brighid and Cu got married and then some of it was a little to steamy. It ended a little abruptly. Watevs it was ok and it had a good story. "
— Lola, 1/19/2014" En realidad le doy un 4,5 "
— Vuely, 1/14/2014" Loved Loved Loved this book! It was so much better then Elphame's choice (The first book in this series) which is saying a lot because Elphahme's choice was good as well! The beginning started slow as you slowly got to know each character a little bit better, but after a while you can barely put it down! The only down side I could think of with this book is the Author's lacking of originality. If you read to many books by PC Cast you start to realize that a lot of the same story line is used, just with different characters and time periods. "
— Malyce, 1/12/2014" I was tempted to give the books 2 stars, as all the metaphysical woo-woo got really old, but it was too much fun for that. Cast also gets points for the whole how-does-he-mate-with-the-horse-lady tension through the book. Good touch. All in all, better than I expected. "
— Bob, 1/9/2014" I love the Partholon series and this was one of my favorites in the series. "

— Naomi, 10/31/2012" This book was in the teens section of the library, so I thought it would be safe. Why on earth do they allow sex scenes in books for teens!? Why? Other than that the story was good. "
— Beverly, 10/17/2012" Could not put this down. A adventure from start to end. "
— Donna, 9/28/2012" Wow! Another great one by P. C. Cast! I wish, though, I weren't finished as this was the last of the series... so far? There are lots of loose ends so that another may be working it's way to life. I hope so. Meanwhile, I do have a mountain of books in my TBR pile/shelf to read. "
— Darlene, 9/22/2012" I absolutely loved it. A beautiful love story, imaginative story telling, captivating writing style. I have to watch out for the other two in the series. "

— Rhonda, 9/15/2011" Is there another one after this? Or is the epilogue suppose to show how all things are never ending? "
— Laura, 5/22/2011" A really good book. "
— Bridgette, 5/19/2011" Again, better than I expected it to be, although rife with comedy of the unintentional kind. Best quote: "Regardless, they couldn't be lovers. Brighid Dhianna was a centaur. A centaur." (p. 316) "
— Gabrielle, 4/11/2011" I really like p.c cast. I'd like her more if she didn't put in so much sexual content. All her characters are really funny. The book has a really good plot. "

— Sabrina, 1/1/2011" Love the mythical romance! Elphame has to overcome her fears and trust the one person she doesn't think she could. Love overcomes all in this beautifully written romance! Metaphors creates amazingly beautiful images that swirl into the readers mind and make it impossible to put the book down! "
— Turtlemouse, 12/3/2010" Be transported into another world. Cant put this line of novels once you start. "
