Christmas has never brought out the best in the MacDougal family. Still, year after year, they gather together in the Blue Ridge Mountains to try to make the season merry and bright. But this year is an especially strained one, with Shayne’s impending divorce, Morwenna’s slavish devotion to work and Bobby’s reluctance to face what life has to offer. They’ve never felt less like a family. Then, in the midst of a snowy sibling shouting match, a mysterious stranger appears. He could be a criminal, a madman — or something far more unexpected. Despite their fears and the growing danger in the dark woods around them, the MacDougals take a leap of faith. But when another stranger arrives on the mountainside, they don’t know which of them to believe. One of these men can’t be trusted. And one is about to bring Christmas into their hearts. Listener Opinions

" This tale set at Christmas time was a little strange but held my interest throughout to the end. I liked the setting of the cabin in the woods and the family gathering for the holiday. There's decisions to be made and lives are greatly affected. There's lots of action in what is a battle between good and evil. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Amber | 2/10/2014

" My husband is right... it's like a Christmas-themed Heather Gudenkauf book... fast-paced and high energy - good mystery - and I loved the spiritual side of things :) "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Charlene | 2/6/2014

" For a short book it took a long time to get through. The dialogue was unrealistic, the story was boring and the editing lax. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Lisa | 2/6/2014

" This book was different than others by this author. It felt very rushed to me as far as pace. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Tonya | 1/27/2014

" It's a little early for feel-good Christmas books, but I enjoyed this one. Not terribly deep, not terribly surprising, but altogether enjoyable. A quick read. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Cara Kelly Merrill | 1/20/2014

" While it's not a 'bad' book, I would say it's somewhat cheesy, predicable, and a tad boring at times. Not a 'bad' book, but not a 'great one' either... "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Lois | 12/30/2013

" What a delight. I wasn't sure I would like this book but I found that I really enjoyed the plot and characters; and of course the snow and mountain setting. "

" This book was a good Christmas read. I enjoyed the characters and how they interacted with each other. Reminded me of a typical family. I liked the setting - a cabin/house in the mountains, snow, perfect Christmas setting. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Glenn Harris | 8/24/2013

" What can I say? I like to read holiday-themed stories during the holidays. In this one, a snowbound family is confronted by two strangers, each of whom claims to be a cop in pursuit of the other. At Christmas time, of course. And the men are not what they seem, of course. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Cindy | 9/8/2012

" AN ANGEL FOR CHRISTMAS was an intriguing story but the ending felt just a bit rushed. I liked that it was a Christmas story without a commercial message but rather a faith based one. "
