Publisher Description

“Every James Rollins delivers mach-speed mayhem, throat-clutching suspense, high-style adventure, and a terrific story told terrifically.” —Steve Berry, author of The Romanov Prophecy

The thriller king praised for his “edge-of-your-seat excitement” (San Francisco Chronicle), James Rollins storms the New York Times bestseller list with every novel he writes. With his latest breathtaking blockbuster, Altar of Eden, Rollins takes a breather from his Sigma Force adventures (Map of Bones, Black Order, The Judas Strain, et al) while delivering all the action, surprise, and intensity for which he’s well known—and loved. Combining science, history, and breakneck suspense—and a secret tied to the Book of Genesis—Altar of Eden is sure to satisfy every James Rollins fan while winning over a slew of new converts.

"I've never read anything by James Rollins before but I shall be checking out some of his other work after enjoying this. It does involve some suspending of disbelief and there's a might too much action and adventure but it really had me hooked almost from the first page. I didn't hate the female character and the villains weren't too one-dimensionally evil *mwuahahaha* and I thought the whole pace of the thing was good. The plot whizzed along and I didn't find myself bored or not interested in reading further on any occasion. I highly recommend if you want an action-packed thriller that skirts the edge of too much then this is for you."

" I've read all of James Rollins' books and in my opinion this on is the BEST! He takes the "what if" factor down a whole new avenue. Couldn't put it down until I was finished. If you even think you like James Rollins read this book first. "

" Over all it was OK, but I found parts of it a bit to contrived for my taste. The ending reminded me a bit of a James Bond novel, Dr. No. "

" Bloody brilliant book. I found the reading experience rather worthwhile. Truthfully, I abhor science fiction novels, but after this I might even consider stripping the genre of the title. Anyway, Rollins did a spectacular job with this one. Totally recommended. "

" Definitely another riveting page turner of Rollins'. The characters are pretty easy to wrap yourselves around and care about and, in true Rollins style, the action jumps out from the get go. The premise is compelling, allowing the author to draw on his veterinary experience, and, all in all, it's a worthwhile read for those looking for adventure and intrigue. "

" Pretty good thriller sort of what could happen if crooked military sorts play with genes in order to build a better weapon, human or animal. Fast read, lots of action and an interesting take on the basic plot "

" Fascinating in a scary way. The whole concept of genetically altering animals and especially humans definitely questions where you draw the line between science and morality. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and reading about the Louisiana bayou. Overall, a good read. "

" Though this isn't my usual genre, for James Rollins I step into the world he's created. A perfect blend of science, theology, adventure and suspense, easily this is my favorite of his books. Not unlike Criton, Rollins brings you into his characters world and you begin to believe in the impossible. "
