Publisher Description

The second novel in the New York Times bestselling The Search for WondLa series, from the cocreator of The Spiderwick Chronicles.

Before the end of The Search for WondLa, Eva Nine had never seen another human, but after a human boy named Hailey rescues her along with her companions, she couldn’t be happier. Eva thinks she has everything she’s ever dreamed of, especially when Hailey brings her and her friends to the colony of New Attica, where humans of all shapes and sizes live in apparent peace and harmony.

But all is not idyllic in New Attica, and Eva Nine soon realizes that something sinister is going on—and if she doesn’t stop it, it could mean the end of everything and everyone on planet Orbona.

Featuring an abundance of lavish two-color illustrations and spot art throughout and introducing a host of remarkable characters that reinforce the importance of friendship, A Hero for WondLa has all the hallmarks of a classic book—of the future.

"It is a rare thing when the second book wows me the way the first book did but I am happy to say that I am still madly in love with WondLa! Eva Nine and friends old and new have made their way on the ship Bijou to the human colony of New Attica with hopes that Eva will find her WondLa and feel at home. Not to spoil the story I will just say that all is not what she hoped for and Eva continues with guidance from the wise Rovender Kitt ,an alien who is all heart, to search for truth and justice in a world that doesn't always make sense. This wonderful blend of The Wizard of Oz meets Star Wars will have kids ripping through the book in one sitting just as they have with Harry Potter or The Lightning Thief. The big difference with WondLa is that there are life lessons between the pages- some of which are learning to fight for what and who you believe in, growing up is not easy and families have to deal with issues too. To help us along Tony Diterlizzi has included his glorious illustrations and symbols when activated by your webcam further illustrate the journey. Eva Nine grows a tremendous amount in this book making this the perfect family read. Strap on your omnipods and get ready for an exciting journey on an alien planet just mind the sand-swipers! This book will be out on May 8th, 2012"

" A Hero for WondLa by Tony Ditterlizzy is an action packed adventure for people who love Sci-fi, fantasy, and adventure. This book is best for anybody 9 and up probably. I would defiantly reccomend this book because the author uses such great words and you just get sucked in. Throughout the book you grow a strong bond with the main character Eva Nine, because she is so relateable. I couldn't get enough of the first book, so that is why I decided to read the second one. "

" This was even better than the first! I got into this one immediately and it was incredibly fast-paced. I wanted to keep reading just to see how it would all end up! As with the last book, the drawings were a great bonus. And the way it ended has left me wanting the next book in the series very soon! "

" Interesting, original sequel. Sometimes the pacing seemed a bit off. Like, there was a super action-y bit that came up from out of nowhere and read just kind of...slow? I dunno. And sometimes I got mixed up on who characters were. It was worth the confusion for the AMAZING ILLUSTRATIONS though. I dig it. "

" Even better than the first! I eagerly await book 3. DiTerlizzi has imagined a fascinating world that feels like a Jim Henson fantasy rolled into a Star Wars ideology. Loved it! "

" The book was just as well-written as the first one, but I found the plot a little more formulaic. It seemed to be trying to force in way too much action when a little more description would have worked well. Finally (and sorry if this is a spoiler), the lack of an ending really bothered me. I didn't want to get that far into the story just to be left hanging and waiting for the next one. "
