Joy Randall's Top 5 Tips for Vampire Hunters:

  • Location, location, location. Vampires won't be caught dead (ha!) in places like discos, ten-minute lube shops, or Switzerland. Remember, if you wouldn't be there, neither would a bloodsucker.
  • Trust your eyes. You know the handsome, annoyingly arrogant, self-assured man in the shadows with long hair and a cleft in his chin? He's your vampire.
  • No matter how tempting it might be, do not "accidentally" acquire a paper cut on your finger and suggest your vampire kiss it to make it better.
  • Play it cool. Don't offer to accompany your prince of the night on the talk-show circuit, and whatever you do, don't offer him your heart!
  • Most of all, remember: being a vampire is nothing to laugh about.

"Pretty good book but a dash too long. In between the good parts ( and i don't mean THAT... although that was pretty good too ) there were a few moments that I just wanted to put the book down and go to sleep. However, since I love Katie MacAlister I finished it and boy was I glad. Fans of Romance that's forbidden for a reason will love this... and if you don't well... Check again. ;)"

    — RT Book Reviews (4 stars)
  • “Readers will gladly give in to the wickedly sharp bite of MacAlister’s wit in this temptingly toothsome romance. With its superb characterization and writing that manages to be both sexy and humorous, this contemporary paranormal love story is an absolute delight.”

" Loved the firey nature of the main femail character and how she interacts with the main male character. I found myself actually laughing out loud. "

" MacAlister's talent definately lies in the comedic end of the paranormal romance field. Joy's adventures in clowning her way through a new romance and a world where steamy romances about Dark Ones and their Beloveds turn out to be true made for a fun bit of reading and a break from darker paranormal that takes itself too seriously. I'd have rated it higher, but the dialogue tended to get on my nerves, especially Joy's lover using "baby" in every single sentence referring to her. The minor mystery was rather left in the dust of Joy's antics and should have been more in the forefront of things. Kind of like Lucille Ball or Amanda Bynes in a vampire world. "

" I do so love Ms. MacAlister. Another score with this fun book about Vampires. The characters are likable, and she keeps you guessing what is going to happen to the very end. I can't say too much more without spoilers, since this book kind of keeps you guessing. Excellent love scenes, wonderful dialogue, and an excellent setting. On to the next one! "

" A lot of the dialog was childish and the character of roxy was just utterly obnoxious. It was like listening to a 15 year old who wouldn't shut up! As for Joy....Ugh. As far as heroines go, she is one of the dumbest. Talk about no common sense. I have a personal goal to finish every book I start but this one made It tough to make good on that goal. I literally wanted to reach into the book and strangle someone! "

" Fun, quarky humor and vampires...what more could you ask from MacAlister? A little slow to start and a little predictable but fun to read. I am sure the series will pick up the pace in the next novel. I love the sarcasim between the two friends, and of course the vampire. "
